Why would he leave Alabama for kentucky?
Same reason Deboer left Washington for Bama. Most college basketball coaches would leave their current job for UK

Lol, no. Stoops is stuck in as much of a rut as Cal
Stoops average seasons at football are decent by UK standards historically.
Cals basketball as of late has not.
Close loss in gator bowl > early exit from ncaa tourney

The message boars fired up after Saturday night's disaster. Speculation is that Cal will leave after this season and Oats is the top target for his replacement. We'll have to see what developments over the next month and a half.
Please tell us what the hell Oats has accomplished that would make any blue blood program place him as their top target.

Karen was like Alabama's third or fourth choice. How many will Kentucky go through before someone says yes?

Fewer I would think since Cal has not won a title in over a decade, and it's been awhile since he even made a deep tournament run.
Expectations are lower

Basketball salaries really don't make sense so I wouldnt be so sure of this. Or actually they do make sense, the football market rate doesnt. Freeze has a higher salary than Pearl while only Pearl will need a statue one day.
2022-2023 list:
1 John Calipari Kentucky $8.5 million
2 Bill Self Kansas $6 million
3 Tom Izzo Michigan St. $5.7 million
4 Rick Barnes Tennessee $5.5 million
5 Bruce Pearl Auburn $5.5 million
6 Tony Bennett Virginia $4.8 million
7 Brad Underwood Illinois $4.6 million
9 Mick Cronin UCLA $4.1 million
9 Eric Musselman Arkansas $4.1 million
9 Buzz Williams Texas A&M $4.1 million
12 Dana Altman Oregon $4 million
13 Tommy Lloyd Arizona $4 million
14 Kevin Willard Maryland $3.9 million
Oats now makes 4.5 and I'm sure other escalators and incentives aren't included here. The market is fairly tight. Why in the world would Bama break the market rate just to keep Oats.

Because his floor as a coach has proven to be a 6 seed and his ceiling is the #1 overall seed? His recruiting is elite? His development is elite? He's won with totally different rosters and coaching staffs?
The guy is a great college basketball coach. He's worth whatever we need to pay him if it keeps him here.

People on here need to makeup their minds on whether Oats sucks or whether he'd be offered the HC job at the premier program in the country.
Can't have it both ways.

when was the last time your team won 27 of 30 in the SEC? I'll hang up and listen.
But Ken > Ala as far as hoops jobs goes of course but one thing working for Ala is 3 teenage daughters in HS that I doubt want to move again. I'd imagine that matters some.

You'll have to throw the kitchen sink at him, and even then I don't see it happening.

I don’t believe this to be a serious question.

They building statues for anyone these days? Great coach, but a statue? Really?

Arrogant Cal isn’t leaving. He doesn’t accept responsibility for anything. He will hang around until his contract ends in 2029 winning just enough to aggravate the piss out of all of us and continuing to squander talent. But hey we will have lots of NBA players.
