With Rattler having gone to South Carolina, we need to go back to USCreal = Southern Cal
USCjr - South Carolina

Lincoln lost the locker room back in September.... he never really made the transition from assistant to HC. He virtually ignored special teams, he was calling plays when he should have been working the refs, he still to this day plays prevent defense and conservative offense when in the lead second half, his hire for S&C Coach was soft and allowed 5 stars to skip workouts....
We are far better off without him....

Happens every year in every place. Odom left and took half of defensive starters. It’s the way it goes. Get used to it OU. Because when Saban retires they are taking Clemson and then Clemson is going to rob you and take your coach again.

This sounds a bit different from when he first left?

Pulled a Jimbo, Sexton was negotiating with aTm in the Spring before Jimbo bolted.

Why are we talking about USC on the SEC Rant?

Just wait. OU is about to drop to third place in the SEC West.
And that would be a GOOD year. 6th sounds about right. Just after Bama, Hogs, LSU, Texas AM, Texas and Ol Miss.

I don't hate him. I think he's a puss for trying to avoid the SEC move and also as previously stated, it's pretty apparent he's been talking to other players/recruits and coaches about this from early on. He and the whole team were on cruise control all season, most likely for this very reason. I'm glad he's gone. As for Caleb, I just wish he'd make it official and get it over with. We'll be OK

What this really is, is an indictment to an absolute lack of confidence in OU players' buy-in on Venables' approach.
No, I’ve heard from people I trust they just aren’t playing the NIL game like the other powers are.

Oklahoma has had their player pay system in place since the fifties. College football has our NIL system, OU has theirs.

If you can’t figure it out with context, I think less of you.
Not you, obviously.
That’s always felt like more of a thing neutral/rival fanbases bring up, instead of the two USCs

If the B12 Ds could figure out, I don't think the SEC would have any problem. Two things. 1) Run two high safety with umbrella and he will still throw long to the outside. 2) When you run the GT counter every play, it actually simplifies LB and DL reads.
The media has thought much higher of LR than a lot of OU fans the last two years. WR leave because they are struggling, and go to Miami and set school records. QBs leave as they are doing nothing and go to another school and flourish. CBs saying they received better coaching in HS than from Grinch and Manning.
Yes it reamains to be seen, but OU was in pretty good shape, offensively, when LR came in and most fans feel they regressed, based on the talent they had. Part of that is that LR ran off Scmitty and brought in a guy who was teaching Pilates at a gym in Abeliene to be his S&C guy. And if a player didn't feel like lifting that day, well it was OK, we all have bad days.
Former All-American players were upset to the point that they didn't even want to talk about it anymore. I spoke to many of them, in person.
Yea, it remains to be seen if the former players and fans are correct. Or, if the media and those away from the program are correct.
But, I am very comfortable that it will take a while. You don't fix the S&C fiasco over night (By the way the guy went with him to SCw). There is a reason two coaches went with him to SCw long enough to find real jobs at other schools. That includes Jamar Cain, who is a rising West Coast recruiter
btw - Most of the D players were glad to see him go. Some who graduated have taken shots at him via twitter. Some of those who went to the portal, were already heading there, even if LR had stayed. The net is not as bad as it may appear, from outside the OU circle.

Maybe but will he have a defense that can stop anyone. Grinch was hot and cold.

Grinch's constant stemming and stunting was done in a way that constatly had the DL too high and very suspect to being controlled. He played some of OU's least talented players at Safety, because he "could not trust" others. I think we will see that trust was a matter of lack of development.
Again, the only D coaches that players hated to lose, were Thibbs, Cain and Odom. No love loss on Manning and Grinch

I feel like the PAC is just waiting for some team to step up.
I think we may see another Clemson type rise coming from there.

Never know about the PAC. Part of the problem is that football is just not that big of a deal to the West Coast. Schools can only get fans, when they are consistently winning. They are all fair-weather fans.
Outside of USC, there is a shortage of "Destination Schools" You do well, and you can go to places where they really understand and enjoy football.

They don’t have anything in place to complete in the current market according to people who know and Venables isn’t a fan of NIL to begin with.
Might change, but expect more turnover.
