Georgia’s for instance is far more impressive considering the amount of talented teams you face versus 50 or more years ago. Even in a 4 team playoff era. You’re facing two top four teams to end the season.

who said that?

you're right. It sucks we couldn't have multiple teams winning 30+ games in a row as if tha'ts so commonplace.

You just couldn't do it.

Right. Very, very few teams in the history of the sport have done it. Oh woe is us!

What's hilarious is that OU's second longest win streak would be #2 on this list and its third longest win streak would be tied with Bama at #4.

31 during 1948-50
28 during 1973-75

Edit: Damn, I was too slow

Why post this? It's a joke. Neither team has ever played an SEC schedule. They don't get to be in a list like this. After they've been here five years, they can be in the 'longest win streak in last five years' list.

After ten year, ten.

You're not gonna bring their crappy schedules into the toughest conference in the land and act like they deserve to be anywhere near this conversation.

They don't.

28 is not low. They just play in the SEC.

I will say that Oklahoma's having this many unbeaten runs in the top 5 is very very impressive.

OU - 47 wins
OU - 31 wins (48-50)
OU - 28 wins (73-75)

The ones that stick out are Bama being so low but also Mizzou only having a 9 game win streak when they played in 2 subpar conferences for decades.

Same can be said for OU & UT. Hard to say for sure but I suspect neither would be that high in the SEC.

I don't think you can draw that conclusion based on records that were set when the SEC was still an all white conference.

And an undefeated year (1954) where Wilkinson wasn't awarded the title.

Wilkinson had two undefeated years where they weren't awarded titles (1949 and 1954). In fact, for all three of his titles his team had to go undefeated the previous year.

Given, in 1950 the team pulled an Alabama and lost the Bowl game after being awarded the title. I'd happily trade 1950 for 1949 and 1954.

So does that mean that the cheating title you won will mean nothing to you because it happened 50 years ago. Please read the comment slowly so you understand what I’m saying.

The old Big 8 and the first 15 years of the B12 were not exactly "subpar". Educate yourself.

So are you saying you joined an inferior conference? That is a hard argument to make in your position.

This was the Big 8

Big Ten was a tougher conference until the 90s and then the Big East was the best, but the SEC was nowhere near where the Big 8 and SWC were in terms of quality. We always had 3-4 programs who were good at every point

Oklahoma's two streaks came at a time where Nebraska took a step back

Mostly because you couldn't go to back to back bowl games or something stupid back then....
