Sorry to break it to you guys, but not for real.
You are not an authority on it, nor am I. I am just posting what the actual authorities say.
but the fact that some of you are so bent out of shape over it does make my day.

If bent out of shape = laughing out loud while reading Texas is a blue blood, then OK I guess.

Blood is only blue before the nut cutting.

bent out of shape enough to post about it. A fact you can't run from

Society: Texas is a blue blood
LSU fans: LSU has been better since 2000.
Society: Yes. Great job. Doesn't make you a blue blood.

They truly are the most insecure fanbase in the SEC. Which surprised me. I didn't expect that coming in.

I repeat, NO ONE OUTSIDE OF AUSTIN THINKS TEXAS IS A BB.
Why is that so hard for you gaylords to understand?

You have no idea what constitutes a blue blood. No one does. It's a fictitious title with no real parameters.
Thanks for the compliment on us having a better program this century, especially when you consider LSU has a fraction of the resources Texas has lol

Except there is endless literature on what a blue blood is.
Blue bloods are the ones that built the sport. Texas is in. LSU isn't. The college football collective has decided that.
That doesn't mean your school hasn't done well. It has, and we're all very proud of you.

Yeah, but Nebraska is really, really pushing the limits of how much and how long you can suck for before you’re not considered a blue blood anymore. Like I’m pretty sure this recent suckitude has affected Nebraska’s all time statistics at this point.
Princeton, Harvard, and Yale would have been the original blue bloods. Pitt and Minnesota would have been considered blue bloods slightly later on. So you can’t really say that who’s a blue blood never changes.

This thread didn’t go as OP pictured it

There are three or four bluebloods, at best.
Texas University has one ten year period of greatness. And it was a great decade, no two bones about it. Before that, you don't have much. It's closer to nothing than something, in the context of this debate. Some conference titles and a few one loss seasons. You were not a powerhouse or a threat to be a powerhouse. You went to 7 bowl games before the DR era (and you count seven wins against OU before Oklahoma was even a state). You've been squarely middle of the road or a bit higher since DR. Yes, you have one natty, as do Colorado and BYU. Nothing you've done since DR suggests "success" on the scale that WOULD extend blueblood status IF you had a history before that one decade/60s, which OU, USC and OSU have, in addition to the Dame (though, obviously, there is but one blueblood, and we all know who that is).
Your entire status has always been "we're big, we have money and we love football". That's it. That's your foundation for "blueblood" status. Not success.
