UGA's success was built on Saban's blueprint

I look forward to Saban’s analysis during our playoff games next year, he’s doing well transitioning to his new role at ESPN

Kirby is doing great but he has a long way to go to be anything like Saban.

Which makes him exactly like Nick (and everybody else for that matter)

Bama’s defense couldn’t defend anything this year. Imagine letting Hendon Hooker dunk on you.

Kirby's success is part and parcel of the greatness of Nick Saban...how that is a bad thing or somehow a slight of Kirby Smart is beyond me. He may surpass Saban, highly doubtful but he could, but his doing so would be directly attributable to Saban. Thus us the way of the world and teachers / mentors.

I bet Smart doesn't coach more than about 15 years. It is far more of a grind than it was when Saban started and the money is far greater....hard to imagine anyone be willing to work that hard when theyre already financially set for a couple of generations at least....it would be nearly impossible to imagine anyone doing that hard work at a high level for more than 10-15 years or so....

Duggan sure never took off and ran the ball in his career. TCU should have worked some of that into the offense, who knows they might have lost to UGA by no more than 20 points like LSU did....

Does Bama go to the Kirby Smart tree when replacing Saban?

Seriously, what did that gig pay???? I can't imagine it being worth while considering what he is making coaching. It couldn't do much to raise his profile with recruits etc. Seemed strange for him to be doing it considering how hard his full time job is supposed to be....seems like he would have preferred to stay at home and do something unrelated to football if he wasn't working on making Alabama better.....

I'd be happy if we did but I highly doubt he is ever leaving. Why would he?

While true... he's still very young.

Kirby is 47.

At 47, Nick Saban had just finished his 5th year as a head coach, his 4th at Michigan State. He had 0 national championships and his best year at MSU was a 7-5 season.

Actually, a lot of Saban's success was due to having Kirby as a coach and recruiter.
