UGA will have a chance next season

Georgia had the second youngest team in the SEC last season.

In 2026 we don't have to play aTm, Texas, Tenn and LSU, so we probably won't be as beat up at the end of the regular season.

I'm looking forward to this season because we will field the best defense since the 2023 season.

Kiffin is #2.

how many times do we have to discuss this. We are aware the sec is down.

Kiffin doesn’t have a playoff appearance. That is just life.

Not crowning him early like OP, but I can’t take this seriously. In addition to building the team & staff, he coached the entire regular season. Now, what are playoff appearances based on?

You don’t have to credit him for the wins, but to not credit him with the playoff berth is either stupid or trolling.

Over the past five seasons, Kirby has won 3 SEC Championships and 2 National Championships. There is not another coach in the entire country that can match that level of success.

Fantastic. But that doesn’t take anything away from my thinking about how his in game decision making has been rather suspect over the last couple of years.

Did he coach a playoff game? No, he did not. Decisions have consequences. Maybe he will get to do so in a couple of years. Maybe not

The whole point of saying a coach doesn't have a playoff appearance is to emphasize the fact that he didn't ever put a team together good enough to make the playoff.

That's not true of Kiffin so it just looks like bitterness and hurt feelings.

He put together a team. He didn’t coach them due to his decisions. He wouldn’t have gotten very far because doesn’t kick FG’s. LSU shouldn’t even bother to have one.

Honestly, B+ is pretty good for a journeyman coach that has never won anything at all.

Using the "he didn't make the playoff" argument still makes you look like you have bitterness and hurt feelings.

Mike Leach made a bowl game with State in 2022, despite not coaching the actual bowl game.

The "journeyman" narrative has always been funny because he doesn't move around more than any other coach.

Just confirmation bias, I suppose.

I can understand your point, but I genuinely think you are selling Lane a bit short.

I posted this in another thread about Lane, but it’s relevant here…

“Between 1970 and 2020 ( Lane’s first year) Ole Miss has exactly three 10 win seasons.

After going 5-5 in his first year, his system averaged better than 10 wins per year even including the 8-5 2022 team.

It’s not just the wins, he made Ole Miss into a program that you had to take seriously.

He did an A+ job.”

I’m not bitter. I think he is an average coach under pressure and he will be under incredible pressure at LSU. I also have no respect for a man that dates women his daughter’s age. Some screws loose in his head.

Those are my opinions. They don’t have to be yours. He had one great year at Ole Miss. Probably due to lack of effort if he is the coach LSU claims he is. To be determined.

Clearly

I always find it weird that some folks dislike public figures on an almost personal level, having never met them.

He would've made a 12 team playoff multiple times so more than one.

I think he is a good coach. Not remotely number two behind Kirby who has the hardware. Probably behind DeBoer and Sark based on results.

How much did you hate that a) when you thought about the other 15 coaches your brain went to Texas and Sark and
B) you posted it?

Respect to you here though

Sark continually wins 10 games despite some decisions that are questionable. He is a good coach. It is between him and DeBoer for the number two spot based on results. I’d give the edge to Sark

Valid

Sark made a 4 team playoff and DeBoer made a natty. Both have also made the SECCG.

Winning SEC titles aren’t the end all be all any more. It’s about the expanded playoff. Kirby has hardware under the old system. UGA will probably be one of 12 teams with a shot to win it next season. And you can talk about them being young on defense and Kirby having past hardware, etc, etc. But we have all watched them fall short year after year now in the new system with different QB’s and different defenses. Instead of buying Cannion from GT they should have bought Faulkner.

I’m shocked, really I am.

This coming from a guy who wanted Kelly over both DeBoer and Kiffin just totally baffles me.

Would you rather DeBoer over Kiffin?

Why?
