Ole Miss a hot destination for blue chip high school recruits.

Said no one - ever

They said it in 2013 when Hugh Freeze pulled in the no. 8 class.

Using mercenaries can be a bridge to making Ole Miss into a football program that recruits on a national level.

correct. "Rebuilding mode" means different things to different programs. Bama and UGA still have loads of talent in rebuilding seasons that help fill in the gaps while HS talent develops.

2020-2022 Ole Miss rebuilding mode did not have that same fortune. We need the mercenaries for immediate playing time so we can let our high school recruits develop. You'll still see us try and pull high level transfers but ideally we'd obviously like recruit and develop HS players.

The other thing to worry about when relying too much on HS recruits is they can leave at any point for any reason and play immediately. Portal guys are using their free transfer so that kind of forces their hand into producing.

I see you've only followed college football for one season.

you think Bama will hire him to replace Nick?

I think Kelly will be at lsu for a while Regardless if he wins a title or not he will probably do good enough to not get fired

So which jobs would lane take ?

I am saying why would he leave ole miss? Maybe for Bama or lsu but not much else I can think of for him to leave that makes sense or is an upgrade

It’s a good question. There are few options but they are there. UF for one, maybe Tx eventually. Others he would leave for wouldn’t take him back. Thing is if he gets on top at UMiss and stays there it’s an attractive job for him to stay. If he finds it hard to maintain or doesn’t do it he has options.

Just better hope he keeps his GF/wife and is above board with recruiting.

Shaft lost all his credibility a long time ago

This idiot was telling us on the Bama board last year that Bryce was a mid-2nd round pick at best and should stay for another year.

Since you seem to know where Kiffin will go.

What is he going to go? This is the fourth year in a row you morons have been predicting this.

Hey that's a good point. I'd say though if Bama comes calling or a number of others (USC again, the big 3 in the B1G and maybe a couple of ACC teams), he'll unfortunately leave Ole Miss. I hope not but money and prestige talk. But to your point, Ole Miss have been very good for him and perhaps he owes them some loyalty.

CLK has addressed this like 100 times but maybe you can’t read or listen to interviews.

USC again

Once again this poster has never listen to CLk get interviewed about his time there!

the big 3 in the B1G

Why would he take a step down in conferences when he is winning and building something in the toughest conference in the nation?

maybe a couple of ACC teams

Are you just plain retarded? Seriously that may be the most fricking stupid statement in the history of tRant? Why the frick would he go to a conference which is so shitty that an undefeated conference champion gets left out of the Chip to a 1 loss SEC team?

What does this even mean in today’s world?

Also the much bigger factor than his girlfriend is his daughter. She’s the one who convinced him to stay last year, and she is just a freshman at OM now. I think the rest of y’all are stuck with him in Oxford at least until she leaves.

If he’s pulling in blue chip HS kids, dominating the portal, and winning at Ole Miss then what’s a step up? If he can win a NC at a place he and his family loves, then why leave? Does winning a NC at Bama or USC mean more? In today’s world we can match damn near anything money wise, so that ain’t it.

Before someone says some BS about winning a NC at Ole Miss, the only thing missing is pulling in big HS classes for depth, which he’s claiming will happen.

Do you understand that Ole Miss played Penn State that played in a soft conference? They were third in the conference for a reason. Maybe with Washington, Oregon, USC, and UCLA will help push Penn state farther down the pecking order in that new conference.

It’s not like it’s impossible for us to recruit good high school classes. We were doing it with Freeze until everyone flipped out and cried to the NCAA about our “illegal” tactics

But now that illegal tactics don’t exist, who’s gonna stop that? We have rabid doners that are willing to pony up more directly to this stuff than most schools imo.
