So is he gay, or did he knock up a college student and force her to get an abortion before getting narcaned on a bathroom floor? I'm having a hard time keeping up with the narrative.

Ill help you. What CLK was saying is that the perception of Mississippi in general is racism. Thats the overall perception from most older black people. This is because of multiple things combined together. The most recent being the the whole Dixie song chant where the students changed the last bit of lyrics of a song to a phrase commonly used by the KKK. That combined with the confederate flags everywhere on campus really plays into the general consensus of what people outside of MS and Alabama think. When you have players visiting with grand parents that went through segregation and the civil rights movement they tend to see that flag as racist. Not saying that it is but thats the reality of things. I mean if the LSU students started using KKK slogans in their chants combined with confederate flags I'd speak out against it.

Kiffin needs to shut up and coach football.

I didn’t realize their school colors are the same as the confederate flag. It just keeps getting deeper.
Is that why they changed to baby blue, colors of the land shark?
I seem to recall Billy Brewer bringing in the light blue helmets. I believe that was from his era as a player.
I think Ole Miss has worked really hard to move away from that image and era, but old times are not easily forgotten. A lot of people want Col Reb brought back.
They stopped selling the Confederate flag on campus around 1983. That same year, or close to it, they had their first black cheerleader. It's been a gradual process of Reconstruction over the years.
Speaking of Confederates....

Look at this white liberal fig named GFed who claims he has to make an "adjustment" when visiting MS:
So basically, he hears the word fig only in MS / the Deep South, and he's comfortable assuming those same people are "the same people that'd cling onto how blacks used to be treated."
I'm sure all of this propaganda that SEC fans and students are racist rednecks and let's say Big Ten frat bros are angels has nothing to do with his recent photo op with Tim Walz... What a fricking tool, probably hasnt spent more than a combined week in Mississippi. This is why Southern conservatives shouldn't give a frick what a Yank liberal has to say about the South. They'll never let the past go. Ever. I have a degree and spent four years in Oxford. Of course it is far from perfect, but I'll defend it against any scumbag arse Yank college town anyday.

If tweet fails to load, click here.He goes on to say: quote:Twitter Link and lastly:
I haven’t been around racism down south, but I’m white so my experience doesn’t speak for everyone Homophobia is still REALLY bad. F word is basically eradicated in the rest of the country, but it still gets screamed at to players, coaches, and fans at every stadium in the deep south. That’s the biggest adjustment for me

Ik this is beside the original point but I don’t think it’s a reach that the same people clinging on to how gays used to be treated are the same people that’d cling onto how blacks used to be treated

Colonel Reb was iconic. I’ve always had a soft spot in my otherwise hateful Tennessee heart for Ole Miss

The colors are Harvard Red and Yale Blue. They have nothing to do with the confederacy.

It's so racist Frank Wilson is going back for a second tour.

Lane just saying out loud what everybody knows to be true. There is nothing far fetched in that interview excerpt.
Nothing has changed in Oxford except the face they put on to trick kids in.

It's so racist you have to cut and paste a black and white picture from God knows when.

To be fair, he's not saying Ole Miss or the people in Oxford are racist. It's just a perception that older black people have because of the history, etc. Shouldn't be controversial, but of course people will have a come apart.
No not history, racism is rampant right now and will be consistent in the future. The only one who believe racism doesn’t exist are the people whom racism doesn’t effect. Mississippi isn’t the only campus where racism happens. It happens on all campuses.

I don't necessarily disagree that there is still racism...
But good god... in the 1960s not only was Mississippi overtly racist... It was a freakin' powder keg. And the powder keg exploded on the Ole Miss campus.
That is why older Black people have issues. They were around when all that happened... or they were the children of those who were adults when all that happened.
I wouldn't expect that all of them have issues... and why anybody who was actually willing to have their child or grandchild attend school there would have issues. But I can see why how this could be brought up by recruits families... and rightly or wrongly some might consider it in their decision.
