Because Kentucky has never done anything relevant in football and they won't this year either. 9-3 is the ceiling even in the crappy East.

Didn’t Kentucky get a victory in Auburn the last time the 2 played at the Plains? The more you know.

That was this past year. Stoops interviewed with fsu but thet didn't offer him the job as they were hopeful of getting a bigger name still so he told them to kiss it
Fun stuff

Right, but FSU seems to be a shite show financially, and they are hardly the only school around who is willing to devote more resources to football than UK, where basketball is king. I think Stoops is a great coach, I would just be glad no one seems to be paying attention if I was a UK fan?

Looking back my post came across as a-holish but I didn't mean for it to be when writing it. Fact is, until Kentucky wins a big game (like the one they had against UGA in 18) or makes the SECCG they are not going to get any pre-season respect or be mentioned as an actual contender to do anything other than have a solid 8-4 type season.

Gotta break that glass ceiling.

UK fans understand that, and Lord knows if anyonenunderstands how our past hinders our perception to people outside horse country, its us.

I think our frustration stems from the benefit of the doubt other programs get, particularly in preseason, when presently they are in effect the same or worse than us.

Louisville is a great example. Preseason ranked for 2020. We absolutely skull fricked them and set several records. Everyone just sees they went 2-10 previous year and Satt comes in and gets 6 or whatever they ended up winning. Did anyone consider how they actually looked? That the roster offensively was full of capable Petrino guys who actually tried this season instead of dogging it like they did the previous season? And that the ACC was garbage?

Same for VT who we just beat. They no longer have Bud Foster. Iowa State? They went 7-6. And UK returns a looot more and has a better roster top to bottom. Southern Cal? Theyre like Notre Dame and Michigan getting propped up on 30 yrs ago. Reality is theyre justnjot that great anymore.

Buuuut, all these programs get the nod for exactly the reasons you said. And we are justifiably frustrated by it.

I have UK as a dark horse to win the east next year.

Georgia lost a lot, UT while they’re doing better isn’t great, and y’all almost beat UF this year.

I think UGA takes a step back this year and the east will be between UF and UK. The east will also be the most competitive that it’s been in a awhile.

Georgia returns almost their entire defense that was #2 in S&P+ last year and only has to average more than 30 a game to improve their offense. Even with the departures UGA out talents Kentucky by a wide margin. If UGA can win the east with a bad offense I see no reason why they can’t win the east again with a slightly better offense and better defense. Florida should be better, but as long as Grantham is there I doubt they win the east. They’d be a real threat and possible playoff contenders with a better DC.

at least you're honest. but to call EVERYONE lazy is a bit much though.

Mark Stoops is one of the top 15 coaches in the nation.

i'd say you may very well be correct. IF he keeps performing at a high level and IF y'all pony up and keep him i would very much agree. it's as hard for Kentucky to have good football teams as it is for LSU to have good basketball teams.

i always have liked Kentucky; any state that loves good bourbon and good horses is OK with me. if you can just get rid of wildcat mike i would like y'all even more.

That's a lot of words to say that Kentucky will lose to Tennessee again.

I think UK will surprise next season. IF Terry Wilson is back and healthy.

1) can't throw a forward pass

2) didn't beat a single team with a pulse last season

Terry Wilson with a healthy smith as backup. If we get Gatewood a waiver we will be set. Doubt it happens but it would be great for us.

Stoops is a good coach. If he pulls that off it will be his last year coaching at Kentucky.

We’ll know soon enough into the season. Week 2 at Florida will determine my expectations for the rest of the schedule

True, but when considering that and his 2019 coaching performance, he will likely be on the short lists for all schools looking for a new hire.

Not a knock against Kentucky, maybe he retires there.

It just seems like Kentucky will be in the same position as Mississippi State should a more established program come calling.
