And the attendance was abysmal, as in I've seen more people in the stands for a Texas high school JV game.

What is the financial incentive to keep the shite bowls going, and how much longer will ESPN or other networks bother to televise something nobody bothers to watch even with nothing else on?

I hope they don't eliminate them. That way, the 4th-string seniors can get some playing time.

I think you mean competitive...it wasn't a good game. Missed XP, three easy FGs missed, etc.

Most of these crap bowls are owned by ESPN Events so despite the low attendance, they are here to stay. Most of the bowls today are irrelevant. It’s just an opportunity to advertise more nonsense. 6-6 teams don’t deserve bowls. 7-5 should be the cutoff.

Traveling to Boise in the wintertime as a reward for a good season (?) isn’t really what folks had in mind when bowl games were created. Nothing against Boise in particular, but it’s not Pasadena, Miami, New Orleans, etc.

The bowls aren't going anywhere. The conferences will be scrapping for every penny they can get moving forward for revenue sharing. Don't expect conference championship games to go anywhere either.

It will only get worse for most programs.

There is none. Most programs/athletic departments lose money on bowl games. Now, with the transfer portal opening prior to bowl season you don't even know if you will have enough players to even participate in a bowl game.

End the useless bowls once and for all.

Nor is it Memphis, Birmingham, or Shreveport, but at least you can ski for a few days before the game. Those other towns are the armpits.

I'm watching this game in Hawaii right now and if there are twenty thousand people they're all extremely thin.

It’s reaching a point where the only logical explanation is they’re government subsidized and continue to exist solely to be entertainment for the masses

IMO, they are hanging on to the old way of making ad revenue. We all know the only big “bowls” are those that are part of the playoff.

It’s about TV revenue and when they can’t make money there, they will be cut. And if they are, they should allow the same practice time for teams that aren’t in bowls.

They couldn't get the permits approved to hold it in Banff National Park.

Regardless of attendance, ESPN will continue to air them as long as they can sell sponsorships.
