Did Dooley leave him anything at all to build on?

Well, there was some peanut butter for the dog.

Hey they're just one year away from being a legit contender in the east, they promise this time.

Dooley didn't even know a 1/3 of his players names.

Cupboard was bare. Butch's first year had some talent on the o-line and a couple good WRs, but other than that the team was hopeless.
But the best team in the world can't make up for shitting the bed coaching-wise

Thanks for trying to give a serious answer to what was meant as a serious question.
My impression last year was that the Vols had a decent defense but a miserable offensive line. How many of his inherited players are significant contributors, compared to his own recruits?

Pretty much anyone worth a damn was someone he bought in. Dooley may be the worst coach in SEC history.

Very few. Curt Maggit, Brian Randolph, AJ Johnson. That was pretty much it from last year. This year, with Maggit being injured, it's pretty much just Randolph.

It was an awful situation. He really has done an amazing job rebuilding that roster, BUT it's time to win now. As long as he continues recruiting well he should not be fired this season period. Next year is when it really matters. That team is very talented and will be next year. The program cannot afford another coaching change right now. That's the honest truth.

UT was in dire straights for sure, I think Meyer and even Muschamp at least left us with something to work with.
That being said, Tennessee is a whole hell of a lot better than people give them credit for. They'll play everyone hard and have a chance to win every game.

Good to see UT's back to recruiting at a high level and doing the bare minimum beyond that.

Congrats. You've just described every team in the SEC.

Wow. Just wow. The three years before Butch, UT had the 20th, 14th, and 9th best classes according to 247 but yet had no talent??????? Makes you just appreciate Freeze and Stoops all the more because they were really lacking talent. Butch just sucks as a game day coach.
