I know how this sounds...but I have been told by a source very close to the team that Cunningham is seriously considering coming back. Do I really believe he will? No, but I am sure that he's really considering it and that's the best we can really hope for at this point.
They used to have Spurrier as their coach and he's a pretty funny guy.

I know we have really talented players and I shouldn't be needy...but I'd love it if we could recruit a solid catcher. Ellison, and frankly Delay, have been leaving something to be desired for years.
Corbin is such a baller with his base-running decisions.

Will Wade is the top target I think. Young Nashville guy and childhood Vanderbilt fan that's had success everywhere and landed an extremely highly ranked recruiting class at Harvard. Everything fits.

He's clearly been given an opportunity to find himself a new job rather than be fired after 17 years and the buyout needs to be negotiated. Fleeing is an odd way to put it. I don't know a single displeased Vanderbilt fan.
Stallings was hired at Vanderbilt by Todd Turner, the leader of Pitt's search. Stallings is also very invested in his son's minor league baseball career, and his son is a member of the Pirates' organization.
