Is it rage bait because LSU's qb is not #1?

Yeah. Pate is a clickbait master.
Everyone gets fooled with his calm, "objective" delivery but he is generating clicks, thats it.

I’m an LSU fan. But you don’t rage over projections without a previous precedent for success. Nuss was good his first year. But it’s not like he was clearly the best at the end of last year. Much like your stats suggest.
And he’s such a rage bait QB because he has the elite tools, Heisman hype and put up big flash numbers while somehow not being a finished product.
If I were an LSU fan I’d be excited that he put up the numbers he did while being inefficient from an advanced data standpoint because if he takes that next step forward he could be a Matt Stafford type next year.

it had the effect he was gunning for. It created click bait and we're discussing it.
No one knows how this will shake out. Arch is especially a great unknown at this point. It's offseason banter. Nothing more.

His offenses were still pretty damned good without an elite QB.
There were two Saban eras: pre and post Kiffin.
Pre Kiffin Bama was a power run, efficient offense that people overlooked but that were top 5 in points per drive from 2009-2012 with back to back #1 years in 2011-2012.
Post Kiffin some of those offenses became absolute nightmares with the caveat being that post 2020 I’d argue we lost the power run element with the result being that those teams were extremely dependent on explosive plays to generate points.

I don’t see a Bama QB. What’s going on?
Simpson has to prove it. As of now he’s known as the guy that got beat out by Milroe in back to back seasons.

It will be interesting to see if he can put it all together this year, unfortunately, offensive line is a huge question mark and who knows what receiver will be like.
LSU needs to run the ball at least decently to give him a fighting chance.

A very unimpressive list.

In 2008 with JPW at QB, Alabama had five games (including one against Tulane) where they scored 17, 17, 20, 20, and 24 points. Alabama went 3-2.
In 2009 with Greg McElroy at QB, Alabama had a four game SEC stretch where they scored the following: 22, 20, 12, and 24 points. They went 4-0..
In 2010 with Greg McElroy at QB, Alabama had five games where they scored 21, 21, 23, 24, 24, and 27 points. They went 3-3.
In 2014 with Blake Sims at QB, Alabama had 4 SEC games where they scored 17, 14, 20, and 25 points. They went 3-1.
.
In 2015 with Jake Coker at QB, Alabama had 4 SEC games where they scored 19, 27, 29, and 29. They went 4-0.
Back then, especially early on when QB play wasn’t great, Alabama had some real clunkers on offense. But the defense usually bailed them out.

I’m not sure if you have an ultra elite WR but I can’t remember the last LSU team that couldn’t stretch the field so I’ll believe that group is a problem when I see it.
To your point I suspect OL is the hinge group that will determine where the offense ends up.
Nuss has a big arm, but he doesn’t scramble or evade very well like Daniels obviously could and I suspect JD5 covered a lot of sins up front that hadnt been fixed when Nuss took over.
Daniels also was an elite running threat that defenses had to worry about even if the backs weren’t so his leaving exposed some larger deficiencies that I think had been there since O left.
LSU with an elite OL is a NC level team.
With an average or bad OL like last year the defense better take another huge step forward or the league is just too good at the top IMO to win the conference.

Much of that is on AJ McCarron. He was finally able to get the ball to some of Alabama’s receivers on a regular basis. Other than that awful tattoo, he was a hell of a quarterback. Most people forget he was runner-up for the Heisman his final season.

AJ was outstanding.
I put him right behind the BY / Tua tier with Mac Jones.
No question in my mind he could’ve torn it up in a Kiffin / Sark / Locksley era offense.

I don’t waste time following offseason recruiting anymore thanks to NIL/transfer portal. Does Bama not have a QB this year? Strange not seeing them on the list

There's definitely some talent but it's a question mark for sure.
They brought in Andersen from Oklahoma and Brown from Kentucky in the portal as well as Green from A&M and Sharp from Oklahoma at tight end, through the portal.

Replacing 4 of 5 starters is not great.

Keelon Russell was one of the top recruits in the nation. Doesn't sound like he is involved a QB battle for the starting Job there though.

I don't think this is clickbait. Lagway is very talented and has more experience than Manning at this point. Arch may come out and set the world on fire but he's thrown less than 100 career passes at this point so it's okay for the jury to still be out. Nuss may take a big step forward or he may continue to stare down WRs and throw picks. Not every QB takes a transcendent step.
Carson Beck and Shedeur Sanders were two Heisman favorites going into last season. Beck flamed out and while Sanders did finish 8th in the rankings, at no point was he really in the race beyond week 2-3.

I would t be talking then. A redshirt freshman with NO experience. Care to guess the probabilities he’s an elite QB who rarely makes “freshman” mistakes this fall?
