That’s the definition of meddling - admins or boosters making a head coaches decision for him.

And Golesh was waiting for the Arkansas job. Silverfield signed his contract at 11pm then Aubie offered Golesh at 1:30am.

The delusion is strong in this one. Golesh had the Arky job but your AD fricked it up. Y’all settled for a warm body type hire.

75% of the time, I think you’d be right to have reservations about new coach peacocking like that. But Cignetti said something similar last year when he was introduced at Indiana and so far, he’s been able to back that up. He seems like an arrogant d-bag but a lot of good ones are

What coach in his right mind would agree to take the Auburn job?

They made a good hire though for sure

How would you know about that? Look at Auburn's recently history on HCs hires.

I wouldn't mind if this was Auburn's Rich Rod moment like Alabama...the "fall through" hire turned out to be the best hire for their program in its existence.

Sounds like a win win for Golesh and AU. Auburn is close to Atlanta the beach and the 'ham. Fayetteville is close to nothing.

Josh pate is a little bitch who got his start posting rage bait about Auburn years ago. He figured out that to be relevant here all be has to do is post negative Auburn stories. That way it drives clicks from bama and Auburn fans.

He’s a lying piece of shite who has zero sources.

That has been debunked (the part about trying to control the staff). The BoT refused to match certain contract stipulations and guarantees, etc., so Sumrall went to Florida (which was his preferred choice in the first place). Also, Golesh is the better hire, so... yeah.

I mean ultimately (at least to this point) it seems both programs, Auburn and Florida, are happy with the hires. This may be a situation where it all works out. Would be something if both programs meet in Atlanta in the near future.

At least from the Auburn perspective Golesh has brought a renewed energy. No "aw shucks" type answers and seems pretty squared away. A complete and welcomed 180 from the last charlatan.

In barns defense, Pate is a diehard gump so I take every comment he makes about Auburn with a grain of salt.

So much soviet propaganda. An Alabama boy who's wife went to Auburn always wanted to pick Florida over Auburn. Nope.

Putting stock into what Josh Pate says is stupid.

i tend to agree with this. The dude acts like he's got some inside source at every school in the conference. Highly unlikely.

Over the years I've come to believe that Auburn fans are like Children of the Corn. That's why they have that barn on campus, to let the high school corn children candidates know what Auburn's all about. Then you have the satanic TP rolling and the eagle worshipping. I'm sure that's right out of Rushdie's Satanic Verses.

Auburn folks are a strange bunch.

It would rub a lot of coaches the wrong way. Imagine telling Nick Saban he could take the job he'd have to retain a LB coach or RB coach. Auburn was trying to push multiple folks on him from what I gathered.
