But also I can’t help but look at the direction of college football and think that it is just becoming NFL-lite. Also, UGA-Tech series is in trouble if this comes to fruition.
FSU v UF
Clemson vs USC
Louisville vs UK
The only way this really works is if each league goes to 24 teams and they bring the compelling teams in (and yes, I’d say the GA Tech is a school that should not be left behind)
Would also love to see
OK St vs OK
Kansas vs Mizzou
Come back to stay

Part of that agreement needs to require all west coast teams to always have to travel to SEC site. Screw having SEC forced to travel out there.
Can imagine someone scheduling Florida playing Bama at home then travel to Oregon the next week then back hime for GA at Jax following week.

Greg Sankey would be a dumbass to agree to this. It benefits the SEC in no way shape or form. So I assume he’ll counter offer a 2 for 1 where the B1G team gets two home games and the SEC team gets 1.

Bama plays at Ohio State next year and they come to Tuscaloosa in 2028.

I hope Florida should gets Ohio State

what in the absolute hell is the point of this?
I swear the people in charge are just trying to make this like the WWE or something where it's all about the most scripted entertainment they can possibly manufacture. It't no longer even remotely about crowning the best team in america/determing a true national champion. It's simply about what gets the most eyeballs on TV. It's despicable.

I'm calling BS on this.
The four SEC teams that end their season with games against ACC teams aren't going to play that game AND a game against a Big Ten team, because it would put them at a competitive disadvantage to the rest of the league which would only be playing one Power 4 non-conference game.
If you say drop those end of season ACC games, that wrecks the schedule, and there is no easy way to fix it.

Week two Big Ten vs SEC 16 matchups will be the best thing to happen to CFB in a long time.
That alone makes the 24 team CFB playoff worth it.

I would rather play any team other than IU. Ohio st, mich, penn st….any of them. I don’t care about playing or ducking a good program.
I lived through decades of an annual football and basketball forced rivalry with that shite program and fanbase. Just because they got good a couple years ago doesn’t necessarily change the fact that UK does not need to swim in the same damn piss water they live in. UK finally freed itself from association with that shite school and I don’t want to go back.

I know everyone hates the cupcake games and I don’t like the myself but they do serve a big purpose. They act as a mini bye week. SEC teams need a second bye week during the season. The league is just to demanding physically and mentally.
I understand what you are saying and I agree, however it's getting increasingly more difficult to prove the SEC is tougher considering the SEC has been getting its arse handed to it lately in the playoffs and bowl games (they aren't exactly dominating the regular season OOC games either). Yeah, yeah I know....bowl optouts and the fact that every SEC team is loaded with NFL talent so they naturally have more players sitting out of the post-season...but in the big picture, the SEC just isn't as dominant as it used to be 5-10 years ago.

Sure wish Sankey had the balls to require Big 10 to play 9 conference games as well as part of this, not that they are a strong conference, but a P4 is still better than Toledo or North Texas.

If it means we can now drop the parasite FSU without the government getting involved, I am all for it.

It's just to create more TV interest and complete the eventual goal of splitting the 2 conferences off from the NCAA and forming an NFC vs AFC style NFL with about 40 teams.
This is the future.

This probably forces ND into the SEC or B1G. I think this probably starts dominoes falling to 20 team conferences.

Oh I didn't know that
I guess I missed it because 2/3rds of the league is trash. I stand corrected.

I thought the B10 was already playing 9 conference games, which is why the SEC was being pushed to do the same.

They are, I didn't know that.
It's hard to tell because they have so many shitty games.

So sick of all the excuse making by everyone around here. Football is hard. It’s hard to win. There is more parity. Losses happen. Fatigue happens. Injuries unfortunately do happen also (albeit not at a rate any greater than other levels of football).
If you can’t play in this league, transfer or quit. Same goes for the fans.
I’m paying enough in money, time, and distraction to not tolerate anything less than the very best product on the field; this is especially true for in selecting opponents: your rivals, your neighbors, the best out there, in that order.
