"There are scheduling agreements that are in place once this thing expands officially," Klatt told KTCK-FM 96.7 The Ticket in Dallas on Wednesday. "The next thing that will happen almost immediately is we're going to get scheduling agreements between the SEC and the Big Ten -- top-end matchups, mid-tier matchups, low-end matchups -- and we're going to be expanding the valuable matchups in the non-conference, far surpassing what we have now."

Indiana versus Kentucky might cause a new civil war.

The ACC already plays a lot of non conference vs the SEC. The article has the tone that the B1G and SEC would leave those teams from the Big XII and ACC out of some playoff spots but the only chance those conferences could show their work is more games against the P2. How in the hell would they logistically be able to get more early season matchups? I’d say the Big XII is probably screwed going forward.

I was so happy when UK ended both the basketball and football series with IU. It ran its course. Would not want to go back to the same old thing. Also don’t want Iowa again. 2 games was enough with them recently. Want something new/fresh.

I know everyone hates the cupcake games and I don’t like the myself but they do serve a big purpose. They act as a mini bye week. SEC teams need a second bye week during the season. The league is just to demanding physically and mentally. A couple of well placed cupcake games on the schedule along with the normal bye week would help SEC teams stay healthier during the season now that the SEC has moved to 9 games and will now play at least one top out of conference team.

I like the big games, but if other conferences are allowed to play a bunch of cupcakes and then get to go to the playoffs with 1 loss over SEC teams who ran the gauntlet that is absolute horseshite.

"You will take your 9 conference games, and still play B1G teams, just to hopefully make an expanded playoff. And you'll like it."

The SEC may never win another natty.

They will have to switch to computer rankings to select the 24. Humans have ALWAYS punished stronger schedules versus wins and losses. They only take schedules into consideration when losses are equal. They said that would change when they went to 12, yet look at Texas last year. They play Purdue instead of Ohio State and they are in the playoffs.

So, the top SEC teams will have to play harder mid-level and lower-level conference games plus Ohio St, Indiana, etc. while the top Big 10 teams play Rutgers, Northwestern, etc.???

No thanks.

Or, if they just hadn’t lost to a terrible Florida team.
