I didn’t read everything on this from the board, but it seems to me that most are missing the real reason that saban said all of that last night.
Remember who the audience was, it was an audience of boosters. When he said that they won’t be able to continue to not pay players to come to bama , because everyone else is doing it , it was just another situation in which saban was sending a message through the press or to the audience.
He said that because he wants the boosters to understand that the collective they started is going to need more money put into it. He didn’t expect to have that go public like it did, it was a message to the boosters that they needed to start putting up more money if they want to continue to be the gold standard for the sport of cfb

For all the folks wanting Jimbo to spill beans about his time under Saban, I'm not sure there are many beans for Jimbo to spill himself.

That's a good run, but not at all the juggernaut program Saban built himself at Alabama. IMO Saban didn't go all in on cheating until after his NFL stint woth the Dolphins, where he learned he's nothing special on a level playing field.
Saban took the Alabama job, went all in on shady recruiting to ensure he always had the most talented roster in the country, and the rest is history.

One thing that stands out to me is how Bobby Bowden’s character was never questioned. Jimbo was his guy.
If he’s good enough for Bowden that should tell you all you need to know but there’s a lot of unknown here. It’s just what it appears as.

Saban, like him or hate him, was just telling the unvarnished truth. Truth hurts sometimes.
Buying a team is the only way aTm could attract enough talent to compete for the top, and they have yet to get there. We'll see how far throwing money at it will take you. You still have to have great coaching and teamwork.

Bowden was thought of just the same as any other coach that was accused of cheating at that time.
