Spreads were pretty prevalent 7 years ago.

It's not like Jimbo is running some zone read, RPO, and other newer things too.

Frankly this sort of offense is a rarity in modern football for a reason: only a handful of teams have the Oline talent needed to pull it off and the defensive talent to keep games close without a vertical game.

Texas A&M has never been one of those teams and now we are. If we can keep at this level for a while some Five Star QB will give us a shot at something bigger which is all we can ask for.

I just hope we have the QB. That’s the major question mark.

I agree. Based on his high school tape, he definitely doesn't have the reluctance to go deep that Mond seemingly had.

Mond refused to throw it deep. There were numerous times this year when we had receivers open or with a couple of steps, and he always checked down. We'll be just fine next year when he's gone

There is an interesting thread on TexAgs right now that shows a wide angle of various plays where the deep guy is definitely going to be open, and Mond just checks down to the running back out of the backfield or the like

I don't think many on this board realize what a project Mond was coming out of high school. He only completed 55% of his passes as a senior and he was at IMG where they have more talent than pretty much everyone they play.

It's actually impressive that he improved as much as he did in his time at A&M and speaks to how much he worked on his game.

Sounds like a Les Miles offense on its good days.

his balance is amazing. Him and Malik Hornsby were unstoppable at Ft. Bend Marshall.

The difference we have seen Jimbo with better QBs. He averaged like 52 a game with Winston in 13.

Best offense in CFB history.

Jimbo’s not gonna win y’all a natty but he will recruit at a high level and build the program some clout so that the next coach can

A&M has the potential to be dangerous

Don't think you can win it all with his offense. However I don't know that his offense will be the same with a better and more consistent QB. His offense with Winston was pretty damn explosive.

I think he did a great job with Mond at his ceiling. A little concerned that Mond was able to start that long under Fisher. Then again... we ended up top 5 with NY6 bowl win. Just not 100% sure what to think. He has definitely earned the benefit of the doubt. I'm not sure that many coaches could have done what Fisher did with Mond at QB.

Jimbo’s offense does need a vertical threat to be more successful. But Jimbo’s offense in 2013 was the highest scoring offense of all time to that point and it didn’t run the hurry up.

If you think Jimbo’s offense didn’t have a vertical threat in 2013, you’re not paying attention.

Jimbo will always have a winning record against LSU. Anyone that does this will be in a good spot to win a Natty.

Agree to disagree. Beating LSU is like beating Arkansas or ole miss.

Right, but he had the one. Plus a couple meaningless SEC titles . We had to deal with his mediocrity late, but we had hardware from his tenure at least. I just feel like winning a nc will take newer style offenses from now on. Unless aTm plans to out recruit everyone.

Seriously not trolling. I think jimbo can win one with some innovation on offense. He recruits well and knows how to build a team.

Trust me, your fans will be calling for a new offense soon when it starts costing you championships. If it hasn’t already.
