The problem with this strategy for Pruitt in divulging NCAA violations among the football program and other sports is that the year is 2021.

All of these violations occurred prior to 2021

That's what they said about Mike Leach when he sued Texas Tech after the bogus shite Craig James family pulled.

Now tell me, who is out of football, Leach or James?

I mean, is that much of a threat at this point?

Someone may want to inform the attorney that these practices are now allowed and the NCAA is a feckless organization

Yeah, but there is precedent that this could get messy.

During the dispute between Nutt and Ole Miss, his attorney uncovered damaging phone records that led the school to oust Freeze. Mars found a call to a phone number tied to an escort service, and Ole Miss fired Freeze shortly after Nutt's lawyer brought that morsel to the school's attention.

While true, that was a little different. Nutt was suing Ole Miss for defamation long after he was coach there for something they said about him. All he wanted was a retraction and public apology. Ole Miss refused, Nutt sued and issued discovery, uncovered those Freeze calls, and we all know what happened thereafter.

It would certainly get messy, but Nutt wasn't trying to embarrass Ole Miss or threatening to if they didn't play ball. Finding those phone calls was really just a very unfortunate coincidence for Ole Miss. Pruitt's lawyer is basically saying, "I know my client did commit NCAA violations, and we know his contract states he can be fired for committing NCAA violations, but UT committed them too so they should still pay him or we'll expose everything we have." That's unethical as frick for an attorney to do, and stupid to do publicly. Not only is he basically admitting a prospective wrongful termination lawsuit would be frivolous, but he's showing that his client is trying to blackmail UT for pecuniary advantage. Sure, Pruitt may make UT look bad, but he doesn't come out ahead with this strategy and neither does his lawyer who, I assume, is working on a contingency fee

Had Tennessee hired Schiano instead of Clay Travis and other trash fans fricking things up the situation wouldn't be this bad.

Now Pruitt is also playing with fire. Better win the lawsuit because he will never be hired again, at least in college.

Just wait until he sees what we’ll throw at his arse.

what does he have to lose? He’s already on the shitlist for coaching hires and isn’t getting his buyout. Tennessee has a lot more to lose in this situation.

Tennessee ought to fire/disband its P.R. department. From this point on, in light of Saturday's debacle behavior of its fans and all these allegations (not to mention having Fulmer), their services will de-facto no longer be needed.

Either reach a settlement with Pruitt by Oct. 29, or face a lawsuit that the lawyer claims has the potential to “cripple UT’s athletic programs for years.
