Pruitt can settle out of court and still release everything he knows to the NCAA. Burn that motherfricker down.

Do you not understand how a settlement works?

Pruitt's lawyer is basically saying, "I know my client did commit NCAA violations, and we know his contract states he can be fired for committing NCAA violations, but UT committed them too so they should still pay him or we'll expose everything we have." That's unethical for an attorney to do, and stupid to do publicly. Not only is he basically admitting a prospective wrongful termination lawsuit would be frivolous, but he's showing that his client is trying to blackmail UT for pecuniary advantage.

Very well said.

Granted this comes from the article's interpretation of his statement, but this sentence really jumped out in that regard:

The Lyons’ letter made no attempt to defend Pruitt, but instead threatened a lawsuit that would aim to embarrass the university

Bring it on. If he chooses to pursue a lawsuit, he will never coach in college again.

I think it was the UT compliance office that busted Pruitt to begin with. Reported it and it ended up getting Pruitt fired with cause.

If that is in fact true, then Pruitt is bluffing and UT will squash him.

Yeah, IIRC this came out after their own internal investigation. That’s kind of UT admitting violations occurred. Fulmer was fired along with Pruitt. I’d probably call his bluff to, especially if they self-reported the stuff to the NCAA already. Not sure if they did or not

He's not going to coach in college again anyway, that's why he needs the money. Hell he can't get a job selling hotdogs at Bryant Denny.

He’s pretty much screwed himself with this. No way UT can settle this now. He just committed career suicide because no team will be able to hire him after this. What an idiot. He could have finished a year or two in the NFL, done the P5 DC thing and maybe grown as a person and learned to fake being human into another head gig.

Lyons made several broad assertions in his letter to UT that are not supported with details in his letter,

Knox News writes that Lyons is not providing details, and yet the Knox News has covered up UT not providing details for fricking 10 or 11 months up to now

Lyons alleges that university administrators ignored or covered up NCAA violations occurring before and during the Pruitt era, and he wrote that UT’s administration was involved in or encouraged impermissible recruiting tactics. Lyons wrote that his firm has learned of impermissible booster involvement in recruiting across multiple sports.
