Yes and no. It's a calorie deficit. There's no rocket science. Some people have a harder time than others creating one.

He also took shitloads of Ephedra to keep the weight off while in college. Not trying to bash the guy, but im sure this had some affect on his heart.

It's a good example to take care of yourself. He really didn't and it cost him at an early age.

I here to tell you that being fat is not the only way to die. I am a Ride Captain with the Patriot Guard and we are burying young Veterans every day. Really makes you think about your mortality.

Does someone else being fat impact your life?

Karma is gonna get you. Karma doesn’t care how much you weigh either.

I say if you need to lose weight , do while you are young, before you get old and your knees, hips, or back goes out on you. At my age the only thing that gets my metabolism racing is when a cop car pulls up behind me in traffic. And with two hip replacements I'm not jogging or bicycling across the countryside any time soon. They say sex burns calories but how much can you really burn in three minutes? On the flip side people do like to stand in my shadow on a sunny day though.

I get it. And I presume that you do not smoke, eat sugary foods, drink alcohol or have diabetes.

Disciplining yourself can be the toughest thing to do. He was like so many players that go astray when they leave a "controlling" environment. His was weight.

Wrong, 2 people can consume the same amount of calories and workout the exact same amount at the exact same intensity and see wildly different results.

It’s mentally hard as hell.

The actual process to losing weight is pretty simple. Find a way to workout that you enjoy and will stick to. More importantly, figure out how many calories a day you need to lose weight and don’t go above that.

The process is simple. It’s having the discipline and mindset to hold yourself accountable to get the results you want, but you and everyone can do it.

sure, but there are such things as eating disorders. I'm sure telling those psychologically damaged individuals to "watch their calories" works really well.

Yes there are. There are also such things as laziness and general abuse of one's own body. Each case is different and you cannot apply a solution for all to each. But psychological state notwithstanding, There are some good tips ITT on how to get started losing weight. And if someone were to have applied themselves when this thread was started, they would almost have a full week under their belt and probably already be feeling the benefits of a good diet and exercise.

Or we could just talk about it some more.

Exercise (alone) rarely worked for me. Started doing the Keto diet about a year ago & lost 50 lbs in about 6 months & have maintained from there. Could stand to lose another 10-15 but am confident enough now to go shirtless to the pool.

Food selection is good: meats, cheeses, eggs, fruits with “berry” in name and vegetables with notable exceptions. Obviously no breads but you can make a substitute out of almond flour & cheese.

I did Keto strictly due to a bad physical that showed my blood sugar was borderline and my cholesterol was in the 225 range and high blood pressure. For someone under 50, that was scary as hell.

I've done Keto for 1 yr now and had may physical on June 27th. I lost 15 lbs, blood pressure normal, blood sugar is regulated, and I'm completely off 2 medications. It's a life style change, but well worth it.

Really feel bad for the hefty lefty and his family.

For those trying to lose weight, go on Netflix and watch "Fed Up."

Everything the previous generation was taught about food and fitness is a sham. The food pyramid, for example, is quite plainly a way to die.

Life is sometimes hard, sometimes it's not. Here are the 5 fool proof things to do to be healthy. Mind you this is 5 things you need to do ALL the time. Once it's habit, you'll look back and realize how fricked your situation was before:

(1) No sugar, no complex carbs. At all. Just give it up. The first 2 weeks will suck balls, but after, even a sip of Coke will be too much.

(2) Limit processed foods. Good rule of thumb is, if it comes in a box, cut it out. No diet sodas. Drink tons and tons of water. I use Mio to help me flavor it up.

(3) You don't need to be Vegan, but you do need to be mostly fish with a smattering of chicken or turkey.

(4) Eat less. Way less. The 2000 calories needed a day is a myth. If you have a desk job, even if you exercise, you may need 1200. I promise, you may "feel" hungry, but that rubber tire around your waste is legit enough fuel to last for over a month if you didn't eat another bite.

(5) Exercise and Sleep: Exercise legit makes you feel good, once you get out of the, "am I going to die," zone. Sleep is also important. Your body and mind need it.

Bonus: Intermittent fasting is also a big game changer. Only eat from 12PM to 9PM (or whatever 9 hour interval of the day you choose). Drink water and coffee when you wake up. The pounds will fall off.

Bonus x2: Probably one of the hardest things for me, but, seriously cut out most to all drinking. When you drink, you CRAVE sugars and fats. Your sleep sucks. Your liver and body take care of that first before anything else, and store the rest as fat.

Best of luck, and hopefully Jared's legacy is one that people will help extend their lives.
