That first defender kind of gave up on the play - he must have thought that Jets was simply going out of bounds. A slightly bad angle and Jets made him pay dearly!!

Unless he threw more than one backward pass (which is entirely possible), it happened in Qualcom Stadium in San Diego, in November 2004. I attended that game with friends who were Chargers season ticket holders. Before the game, my friend asked me how I thought Brooks would play. I responded "you mean Fuzzy Brooks?". He asked why I called him that, and I said Brooks was a good player but almost every game would have a critical moment where he shite the bed - like a fumble at the goal line or not being ready for a snap. Sure enough, we were in the game when Brooks was pressured and got rid of the ball by throwing it backwards about 12 yards. Deuce had to run back there to recover what was a self inflicted fumble for a 15 yard loss. My friend then says "I see why you call himm Fuzzy Brooks!" I don't think he's a jerk or prick. He is a cerebral type coach, not a motivating or passionate type coach. Also seems to lack a good sense of humor, or at least does not display one. I just find him somewhat flat. Hard to win if you cannot motivate your team to play to their best.
