Yes, its called speculation and if. Nothing to do with OU running him off as some claim. He will have a home as long as he wants it. But speculation (not factual) from fans is he’ll leave. So if he left where would he go.

I think thats why message boards exist to speculate and discuss.

It will happen relatively quickly. He's Jane, plays like Tarzan. Hats off to him for his grit and all that, but he won't last.

He was 6’1 200 lbs as a senior in HS…he’s said to be about 215 now. That’s bigger than Jayden Daniel’s, and CJ stroud were in college. You are just next level ignorant.

You clearly don’t. Troy was on roster in 1984 a full year before your garbage timeline

Yikes. A quick google search could have headed this off.

In 1985, it looked as if the Sooners were doomed when quarterback Troy Aikman suffered a broken ankle in Week 4 against Miami.

Turned out, Oklahoma had a wishbone savant on the sideline in true freshman Jamelle Holieway just waiting to be unleashed.

Troy Aikman: Memorable night going into Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame

* “It is a real honor to be back here in the great state of Oklahoma,” Aikman said. “It is an honor to be inducted into the Oklahoma Sports Hall of Fame. Pretty good stuff for a guy who once backed up Jamelle Holieway.”

Funny stuff. And true. Aikman was Holieway’s backup in spring 1986, which led to Aikman transferring to UCLA.

And now I am confused. Maybe I missed some earlier comment. You stated:

quote:

OU has never started a true freshman qb this early since WW2

And I point out that Jamielle Holloway did the same thing so you point out that Troy Aikman also did. So you invalidated your earlier comment to build on my case.

Whatever . . not important. Aikman started in OU's week 7 matchup against Kansas versus Holiway at Week 4 and went 2-14 for 8 yards with three interceptions.

His rough start was part of his lore.

If OU loses this weekend, do you see JA getting another shot?

WTF are you talking about?

Troy Airman started a game for OU as true freshman in 1984. I stated Hawkins will be the earliest true freshman to start since WW2, a few weeks earlier than Troy. I provided facts.

In 1985 Troy started all games until he got injured for season.

In 1986 he transferred to UCLA but sat out due to transfer rules

In 1987 he started at UCLA
In 1988 he started at UCLA, his last year

I said “this early”, which means as a true freshman Hawkins will start a game earlier than anyone else has. Troy was a true freshman too but his first start was 2 weeks after tx game and Hawkins 1 week before tx.

No. Only injury. And even then Casey Thompson likely.

We also don’t know if JA takes a redshirt. He might. I believe he used his shirt last year but hadn’t dug into and could be wrong. But if JA didn’t redshirt last year he might want to take this year to have 3 years left.

Arnold ain’t going anywhere. OU was sold on this kid a long time ago, Dillon Gabrielle would still be there if they were not all in. Ot was one game under the brightest lights and tennesse was just better. This kid is gonna get another chance and will be just fine. It’s crazy how the world we live in means, a kid has a bad game as a freshman, so obviously transfer….soft arse society

I’ve changed my tune after much convincing by the Sooner. Jackson Arnold is trash, throw him away!

Arnold needs more Cowbell, and Cowbell desperately needs more Arnold.

Edit- having said that, the SEC still has the stupid sit for a year rule (I think so?) which means he ends up on some Big 12 team.

Aikman's performance in that Kansas game is the only QB appearance I can ever remember being as bad or worse than what Arnold did against Tennessee.

And Aikman turned out to have a pretty good career. So Arnold doesn't necessarily need to be written off yet. But much like Aikman... he may need to go somewhere else to get back on track.

Now we know Hawkins was better because if he wasn’t then BV would send out 5 yr QB Thompson instead of Hawkins in 4th qtr vs Tenn. to throw Hawkins out in that situation tells me BV knew Hawkins was the better QB.

Right…. And Hawkins came in at the end when Tennessee had a comfortable lead and was dicking around.

You are wrong. Tenner blitzed Hawkins more than JA. Hawkins scored 2 TDs against Tenner, cold off bench. But say anything to make you feel better

And you are wrong because Hawkins came in to start 3rd qtr. They didn’t let him do anything for 3 series to acclimate. Once they uncorked him he scored 2 TDs vs your D.
