We aren't last!

Welcome to my world. Look I've been a Vandy fan for close to 50 years with not much success in there. But it is still enjoyable. My wellbeing doesn't depend on the how we did. I can cheer for the players and then go on with my life. Actually kind of admire the our players even more for going against semi-pro talent filled teams week after week. Takes character.
second, you will be fine in a few years as I hope we will be.

re: Historical SEC Stadiums of Years Past

Vandy's Dudley Stadium was the first stadium built in the south specifically for football. 1922. Dudley was responsible for the SIAA which was the predecessor of the Southern Conference and the SEC. We are spending over $300M for sports facilities starting this year. Looking forward to seeing all the changes.

A Vandy alum won a bronze for female team track cycling. (We had another Olympian this year in men's golf representing Austria)

why the hate on us?
we have been congratulating you on an outstanding year and tourney. It's ok to be a gracious winner.

agree with this reseeding.
an additional point to ok where you placed us - 5 trips to CWS - 4 appearances in the finals (2 wins and 2 runner-ups. hell of a % there.
Once again, congrats!

Congratulations to MSU - well done. All segments of the game were top notch.
Let's meet up in the finals again next year and hopefully our defense and bats will show up.
Enjoy your year.
and I can't help but say something good for us if you don't mind. 5 trips to Omaha and 4 times in the finals - 2 wins and 2 runner ups. We are doing one thing right for the SEC.

I think the NCAA could have worked out something to get NCSU to play except for one thing. The NCSU coach presser last Monday where he let it slip that a bunch of guys including a coach I think were sick well before they played us. If NCSU had been upfront about this and managed the outbreak at that time, it would have worked out fine for them. when I heard his presser I was shocked and I bet the NCAA was too. They should have told NCAA at that time there was a problem. that would have given them days to make sure the majority of the team was fine. They did send the sick kid home. I have seen several NCSU fans zero in on this as well; one calling for an investigation into how the coach and the AD managed this. The coverup will get you every time. thank goodness we beat them or we'd have been kicked out too for no fault of ours.
Aside from that, I do wish the finals were always held a week after the initial CWS brackets so we could see both teams at their best. I do feel terrible for their players and fans, but Vandy wasn't involved, didn't set this up, and didn't rat on NCSU to get tested.
It will be a tough finals. MSU is on fire right now and our bats are cold, plus since we won the series against MSU back in April, not sure we can do it again.

This is so great. Love the new Chancellor and AD for getting this started.

good mention of matches. The data I saw was an average dating back to the mid 1970s when the pro tour for women started. women used to play close to moon ball stuff that could go on forever!
the game absolutely has changed since those early days.
I'll add another point. Other than the grand slams, most of the men's tournaments are going to 3 sets. Too many injuries on tour now so they need to reduce the men from 5 sets to 3. The tour really is a grueling schedule. Really tough on those lower in the rankings trying to ike out a living while paying for traveling/training/coaches/etc.

per the tennis info - historically in women's tennis matches, the rallies last much longer, whereas the men's matches were quick serve and volley. so a 5 set women's match would have much much longer. I believe they even had stats that the women's matches hit the ball as much as men's matches.
Now days tennis has changed, the men have more rallies that in past eras. You also have much better level of competition in the upper ranks of women. However, you now have more tournaments, like the grand slams that are both men and women and people are there to see both. so no problem with equal pay there. The tournaments that are just for men have a higher payout.
Interestingly enough, through attendance and TV ratings, actually playing tennis, and therefore buying 80% of the tennis products, etc. women are the ones that basically pay for the sport. In the US, women subsidize the entire USTA. Probably the only sport where women are paying for the sport for men and women.

re: SEC 10 Game Schedule - GREAT or detriment for lower teams?
Posted by VU fan4ever on 10/27/20 at 10:08 am
I'd obviously prefer to stick with with 8 conf games and 4 OOC games. that is the only way we can get to a bowl game given the recruiting disadvantage you have. Perhaps if all teams could get the extra practices that come with a bowl game, it wouldn't be as bad. Every bowl game does help us in recruiting so it would be good to get that opportunity every once in a while. the money issue is a bit different since part of the bowl proceeds are distributed to all the schools; the big kicker is that donations from Vandy fans goes way up due to a bowl game so there is some financial costs to us. I'd also like to take this opportunity to say that Vandy and Bama have the 2 best bowl attendance records for bowl games. We don't go often, but when we do, we buy a least half the stadium and we spend $$.
I do think that the SEC is more concerned with the top football schools than the entire league. But then again, so are the networks and the NCAA.
I'll add that I think it could hurt the SEC's chances to get more than 1 school in the championship series since the SEC would just be beating itself up if we went to 10 or more conference games.

Vandy is the defending National Champion in baseball.

then changing the recruiting rules, so we can.
re: Saban advocating for a permanent 10 game SEC schedule

um, no. we need 4 OOC to go bowling sometimes. 10 game SEC schedule doesn't give us a chance.
re: Vanderbilt and Arkansas don't play each other this year

SEC really screwed this up. Having two 0-10 teams isn't a good look. why they didn't schedule Vandy - Arkansas is beyond me.
re: Consecutive losses needed to get to .500 alltime record - 2020 SEC West edition
Posted by VU fan4ever on 9/23/20 at 2:33 pm
have to say, I am pleasantly surprised we would only need to win 20 games to get to .500. Guess we were a power about a century ago. In fact, 1920 and 1921 were our two national championships claims I think. Hope we don't need another century to get the top again.

there is exactly zero talk of the game being canceled. Nice try.
By the way, are you bringing back the grad assistance who literally tripped our guys running down the side lines last time we were there? classy. will give a shout out of thanks to the to your guys in the booth who saw it and pulled his arse in the second half. Or was it the refs that did that?
See you soon.
