I would be shocked if that holds up with us going to a 9 game SEC schedule.
And 1 game a year kind of adds tot heir point, not proves yours even if you win most of those.

I mean, as a whole the SEC has done extremely well against B1G teams the past few years, I think.

That’s why I would hate to see an SEC/BIG10 merger. You would get Georgia vs Purdue, Alabama vs Northwestern, A&M vs Minnesota type games peppered with an occasional descent matchup.

Hm...the Ohio State fans I know are pretty happy about having the best CFB program for the foreseeable future.

You mean other than the BIG going 5-1 against the SEC in last years bowl games?

Ohio State has a great program but that schedule has to be like watching paint dry to the fans.

Ohio State fans should be proud of their team. It's an excellent team now and has a great history..,,I do wonder what you base the statement on that they have "the best CFB program for the foreseeable future."

They might...but what are you basing this on? One Championship last season? In 2022, people sad the same about Georgia after back-to-back championships. Georgia is still one of the best if not the best...and yes, Ohio State could make a claim, but base on one championship seems tenuous at best.

Dude. Seriously? You want to start counting bowl games that both teams have players opting out of? Playoff games? Legit. Bowl games? Hardly. And do you really want to start comparing head to head records over the past several years between B1G and SEC? Or shall we bring up the number of National Championships over the last 15 years not to mention how many different teams have won them from the SEC?

Seriously. When was the last time a B1G team outside of Ohio State or Michigan has won a title?

It doesn't suck but it's definitely different. I remember when I was in school it was the later days of the SWC and the main fear was if the team would fall asleep and make a game that shouldn't be competitive into a dogfight. A&M had some ridiculous streaks from 85-94 where we lost only a handful of home games and conference games. Even the Texas game wasn't really competitive as we won 10 of 11. After Arkansas left it got worse. Just hard to get excited when most of your games were "we really have no business losing to this team" and then you had a couple games that were competitive.

The early years of the Big 12 were actually really good but after Nebraska and Colorado left the writing was on the wall there too. Not as bad as the SWC days but lots of meh games.

Most of those teams also had fanbases that didn't really care much either and that really matters. The SEC has fans that care and travel even if they are down. There were a ton of South Carolina folks at Kyle considering the season and the distance. The B1G has a few really great programs and super supportive fanbases but a lot of hot garbage as well. We are so fortunate with the SEC, just nothing else like it.

Come on guys, UGA and OSU have the two best programs and two best coaches. And it’s not even close. One of those 2 teams will win the Natty this year and next. That’s why I laugh at most posts comparing the two conferences. It’s a joke outside those two programs. Bama is going thru the obligatory 4-5 year period after a legend and won’t be top tier until they make the next hire. Deboer is a solid coach but everyone knows you never want to be the guy following a legend. A&M has a real coach now and will be trouble for years to come. Texas and Ole Miss are just soap operas and the noise around those programs have more to do with everything except on the field results. Michigan made a terrible hire but has to play out the string with Moore. Indiana could be that program that starts sucking up talent with NIL. Penn State is Auburn is Clemson is Ole Miss is Tennessee is Missouri, etc. Solid programs who should win 7-10 each year depending on QB play.

But right now and the next 3 years it’s all OSU and UGA.

and playing against an SEC team is Ohio State's biggest game of the season. That's exactly the point OP was making.

Way too many of them leave the state and then talk about how much better the Ohio is than where they live.

If anyone knows about crappy schedules and non-competitive games, it is former SECe member Georgia fans. It is why Alabama cleaned your clock every year, and you underperformed in the postseason.

Somehow every other fan base thinks a loss in our backup QB's 1st career start is hurtful & damning. It isn't, but it's funny to see it get trotted out over and over

This isn’t a post about B1G vs SEC or UGA vs OSU….its about game day experiences, be it at home or at the stadium. Wouldn’t you have more fun if you had 5-6 games on your regular season schedule against good/decent, challenging teams?

Like, if you think playing UM is the most exciting game of the regular season, don’t you kind of want more of those types of games to get your adrenaline and nerves up a bit?

Case in point. You’re showing me y’all have one game a year against an SEC team. That’s not the same as playing 9 of them.

How was your game day experience any better? All the good teams from that era were in the West.

With the expanded leagues, you will have good schedules one season and poor ones the next. It evens out.

I have a friend who is a huge Buckeye, goes to a Buckeye bar party every game. He just said it this week that it's getting boring having them play teams that are not a game.

Ohio State would lose one or two games a year if they had to play competitive games every week. They are good, but having to be good every week eventually takes a toll.

This is what ESPN,Fox,TNT have done to football in the last decade. Back in the day of Charley McClendon you only knew about your local team. You had to listen to scratchy AM radio for other games or wait until Sunday to learn the scores, sometimes not until Monday.

Today we are spoiled with a few great matchups and lots of games no one watches.

I would agree. But what does it matter to a Georgia fan what the game day experience is to an Ohio state fan? That’s the question I have. I would think since the big ten doesn’t have a lot of great teams, OSU fans don’t mind beating the shite out of the little sisters of the poor every week? Who knows. I guess they only want to make the playoffs like a lot of top SEC teams.
