Is your team going to be better or worse on defense in 2023, and why?

Here is the SEC total defense pecking order from 2022 in Yards Per Game:

1 Georgia 296.7
2 Kentucky 311.4
3 Alabama 318.2
4 Missouri 340.8
5 Mississippi State 344.5
6 LSU 354.6
7 Texas A&M 365.2
8 Mississippi 387.8
9 Auburn 395.3
10 South Carolina 404.7
11 Tennessee 405.3
12 Florida 411.0
13 Vanderbilt 461.2
14 Arkansas 464.8

UF will be better on defense in 2023 because it would seem impossible to be any worse. Right?

I think getting reinforcements on the DL and some young LB's up to speed will help out a lot on our front 7.

I'm gonna say worse in YPG but better in scoring.

And Barry Odom somehow got a HC coaching job out of that performance

Also beat out Ed Orgeron for the UNLV HC job. He isn't at a Power of 5 conference. He won't have the pressure like he did at Mizzou and Arkansas as a DC. He will be fine.

Hmmmmm

I’m going to go slightly better

Tons of talent. 2nd year with DC
Our offense not going 3 and out over and over will help the defense.
But
Concerns of depth at CB and LB. Injuries in either of those areas would possibly be an issue.

Return 80% of production so I’d say better but that’s pretty good already.

2011 Alabama gave up 183 yards per game

How things have changed

I’ll say about the same for LSU. D-line should be solid, linebackers strong, secondary may be worse.

I almost think they couldn't be worse.

Steele is likely exactly what this talented group needs. Simplified, disciplined and attacking. Let the talent play. Pete may be a savant, but it never translated on the field.

Better but not by a large margin.

They lost some off a solid front 7 but are deeper and better that LB. The Secondary is the liming factor for the team. The Oline will regress a bit against the run.

Our front seven will be great. We will have experience in the secondary at corner , but not sec experience. Our new corners were all conference but that was in fcs and the acc . Saftey is gonna be fine. Major burns and Greg brooks are good at saftey and hopefully our nickel corner will be sage Ryan living up to his 5 star rating a couple years ago

Arkansas should be worlds better. Really deep dline and secondary talented and finally deep. Last year we had 4 of our top 5 in the secondary go down, no chance after about game 3, we were literally pulling WR's to play corner. Pretty bad but Odom was horrible.

Run defense should be better

Pass defense will probably be the same or slightly worse
