Herschel and Bo of course.
I also liked Cecil Collins, but it was short lived.

Tough, tough game coming up against the Saints.

Divisional? McFadden. Watching him play was like watching another dude plow your wife, but he was so good at it you couldn't be mad.
In conference? Tebow. Watching him play was like watching the son of a man you hate take your daughter to prom. Yeah, his dad is a total dick, but the son is a sweet guy and you know he's going to respect your daughter.

Not really from a rival at the time, but Archie Manning

AFTER they were done I liked Tebow and Henry (Titans season ticket holder).
Not a player (at least in my lifetime), but I evolved from equating Steve Spurrier as being the devil to loving him by the end of his career.

Should be fun to watch. I think the Saints run D is overrated (mainly cause nfc south sucks at the run) and Henry might be catching a lil Fire later in the season.

And while not football, Barkley

As a former 4th team honorable mention all-district linebacker it would have to be:

Derrick Thomas for me

There are so many that I could make a long list. Of course Derrick Thomas, Bo Jackson, Tim Tebow.......I’ll tell you a guy long forgotten for LSU and had he had his head on right, would have been a beast in the NFL. Cecil Collins. Made horrible choices in life but as a true brutal RB, that guy had HUGE NFL written all over him. It’s sad to see some truly great players throw it all away. He was a beast while he lasted.

The other way around.

I didn't hate Earl Campbell as much as I hate everything else associated with that school in Austin.
I don't really follow Ole Miss or Tulsa football enough for one of their players to stand out to me. Maybe Eli Manning because he had a great Manning face after losing to us in the 7 OT shootout.

Although we’re pretty close in age, and I’d not really classify UGA as a rival, but Herschel Walker.

Not really, no.
Chris Leak was ok in 2003, leading UF into Tiger Stadium as a true freshman as putting the only blemish on LSU's record that year.
To be fair, defense helped him out big time.
