Very telling.

Well, we are making a move on UT as best we can...give us another 10 years if they don't get it turned around.

The 2010 listing was unreal. The SECW had a third of the final top 15.

SEC West in baseball pretty impressive too with State, Arky, and LSU. A&M, Bama and Ole Miss won't be too shabby either.
Also, SEC East has some great teams USC, UF, Vandy and UK.

2011 was a stout year for the West.
Late in the season the BCS was...
1 LSU
2 Bama
3 Arkansas
Auburn was defending National Champion and placed 4th or 5th in the SECW that year.
The division is about as hard as you're going to get in college football.

quote:That shite is so weak bro. They had over a month to adjust to the fact that they weren't winning the national championship. They should have prepped for OU better.
If their mentality wasn't national championship or bust, they would have won their bowl game too. It was the same thing with when they played Utah.
quote:You're basing who was better on what could have happened? wtf.
You can't say that a team that won the capitol one bowl had a better year than a team that was a 109 yard field goal return and what would have been overtime away from a SEC and national championship.
Well in that case, USC was a miracle catch by Tennessee on 4th down to being a 1-loss team in Atlanta playing Auburn for a shot at the national championship.

was it 2011 that three West teams were ranked 1, 2, 3 goin into the final week of the regular season? that was impressive and likely never replicated.
In 1971, the Big Eight (while it didn't have divisions, that conference only had 1 more team than the SEC West) held the top 3 positions in the final AP poll: 1. Nebraska, 2. Oklahoma, 3. Colorado...

Bama was the best FB team in the country last IMO
any given saturday got the best of them.

not making excuses for them but mentality plays a lot in the game. ive been there before losing the second to last game after going undefeated. hearts drop, no perfect season. our last game was not pretty. FYI that same team roster we drug by 30 points the year before

If things remain the same, Bama, TAM, and LSU have a chance to all average top-5 recruiting classes for a long time. Throw in Auburn as a fourth perennial top-10 recruiting program, and you have the toughest division in history for sure.
Furthermore, Ole Miss and Arkansas have put together great recruiting staffs, so there is no telling how tough the SEC West really gets.

The East used to be pretty strong with UT, UF and UGA but right now the West is clearly tougher than any other division in football history.

Disagree.

Yes I think Bama, LSU Aubrun and A&m are perennial top 15 teams.
Obviously it doesn't always shake out that way because they play each other.
I think MSU and Ole Mis could be top 25 teams if they played in a weaker conference.
And and Arkansas sucks now but remember a few years ago the were Top 10 too.
It is a bit nuts, especially if Arkansas gets back on track.

How mad are you going to be when Arkansas beats A&M in Jerry World this year?
Steaming mad?
Fuming mad?
Alabama wife and dog beating mad?
Posted on 2/10/14 at 6:28 pm to BamaPanic
Yes
The west has three elite programs and two others who would win about half the major conference divisions.

Maybe the Big XII South in 08. 12-2 Oklahoma, 12-1 Texas, 11-2 Texas Tech.

Yeah, too bad if he hadn't caught that, your guy was gonna get called for pass interference. He had Marquez North in a chokehold.
