Found this image in another thread and I'm inclined to believe that the people in it may have something to do with Tennessee sucking arse. That's just a guess, though.

Per Matt Stinchcomb yesterday: "UT is High Freeze's dream job"

He obviously sees some value there and if Sinxhcomb knows how he feels I'm sure the folks at UT Do

SIAP.

They typically don’t have the recruiting base that states like Alabama, Georgia, Florida, etc. have

You also have the fact that Washington DC is almost as close to Knoxville as Memphis is. Columbus, Ohio is actually closer. There are 7 or 8 SEC schools closer to Memphis than UT. Sometimes state boundaries are mythical when it comes to football recruiting.

Oxford, Nashville, Tuscaloosa, Starkville, Fayetteville, Auburn...even Baton Rouge...are all closer to Memphis than Knoxville.

they have all the tools to be an elite program again. In recent years you've seen highly touted recruits who are big UT fans go elsewhere because they don't trust the program in its current form. Trevor Lawrence, Cade Mays(he's back), and Tate Ratledge ring a bell. Once they can start turning those kind of kids, good things will happen.

But like other posters have said, no coach is gonna last long when you spot 3 free wins to UGA, Bama, and Florida every year. When you dig yourself a hole in the SEC, it's hard to climb out of it. It's not like the Big 10 where you can suck for 10 years then become a playoff contender magically(Indiana, Minnesota)

All it takes is the right coach. Tennessee has all the resources to restore their program.

Bout an average job.

Small recruiting base surrounded by schools that take players out.

Plus, working for Phat Phil? Sheesh.

The problem with Tennessee is the terrible hires.

It is all a bout the coach. Get the coach and he will get the players. The other issues are excuses for failure.

It's not a top 10 job or anything but it's a program that with a good recruiter can still go get players from the states of NC, SC, Georgia, Alabama, Florida and field a very good team. Plus it pays very well.

This. No reason Tennessee can’t find a coach that brings in enough talent to go 9-3/10-2 at worse every year. Then when the stars align every few years kind of like Auburn in 13 and 17, they beat UGA and UF and go 11-1 and play for an SEC title
