Tennessee is a great job. Big payday no long term commitment. Retire on Vols dime and spend your time watching Alabama football games from the sideline for free.

Imagine thinking the talent in 2016 Butch Jones squad is what caused them to choke to South Carolina and Vanderbilt. Couldn’t be me. Georgia State must’ve out talented UT last year. Kindly stfu.

With your dumbass logic FSU/Texas/USC should always be elite despite shite administration and failed coaching hires.

And yet that 2016 was good enough to beat both UF and UGA.

Yeah - I forgot how elite Florida and Georgia were in 2016. And yet they lost to USCjr and Vanderbilt.

Just stop trying.

Tenn is not in a talent laden state for recruiting
They have to rely on surrounding areas to make up that talent.
They are not going in to Georgia and taking players from UGA
They are not going in to South Carolina and taking players from Clemson
They are not going in to Alabama and taking players from Tide or Auburn
They are not going into Florida and taking players from Gators
They are not going into LA and taking players from LSU

This is how Tenn did it back in the 90's
Once those pipelines of talent started drying up it hurt Tenn

They would get two top prospects out of LA every year during the 90's

Nashville is a growing city. There should be more players coming out of there every year. Which should be an asset for Tennessee Volunteers recruiting.

But I don't know where all these people moving into Nashville are originally from. They may be transplants without much of a connection to the Volunteers.

Nashville. Home of the official bar of the SEC Rant?

Are we going to go into those states and cherry pick the top talent? Of course not, but we do still get highly rated players from each of those states. Tennessee has enough recruits home now to do well there and get a couple highly rated guys from Georgia and Florida, maybe a few guys from the Carolina's, Virginia, Maryland etc and be fine. The recruiting hasnt been bad even with shite coaches for the last 13 years. The only state on that list we havent had any real recent success in is Louisiana. If we could start winning that would start happening more frequently as well. Any person that says any SEC school minus vandy cant start recruiting at a high level if they start winning is just lying to themselves.

It's not a top 10 job or anything but it's a program that with a good recruiter can still go get players from the states of NC, SC, Georgia, Alabama, Florida and field a very good team. Plus it pays very well.

Exactly. Everyone is drawing from the same talent pool. Tennessee is just as noticeable in Florida as Alabama, Georgia, Auburn , Florida and FSU. Laughed about wading through scouts to get on the field to officiate a color game. "This looks like someone went into a sports store and bought every college cap on the shelves."

According to this dumbass Gator fan we actually recruit like Vanderbilt since that’s the results we are getting from our classes. Big yikes.

Dooley/Butch/Pruitt would all win 10+ games at talent rich areas like Florida, Georgia and Texas. It’s clearly their lack of talent that prevented them from succeeding at UT.

It is a bad job but not for the retread reasons of not being competitive in recruitment or archaic facilities.

The overlying problem has been the athletic department and will continue to be the primary problem till a competent director is hired.

It’s been a bad job for 15 or more years bud. What talent pool do they have? They recruit against Clemson Georgia and Alabama.
