Do you even have to ask?

That state has nothing to offer. And y’all stole the land.

No, Nebraska went to the land of the dead (B1G) and assured zombie status. Oklahoma is heading to the SEC, the land of the living.

As much as I would like that, no. OU might have some initial struggles in the SEC but they're not going to disappear. They still recruit the DFW area really well and Nebraska has been completely shut out from recruiting Texas.

Agree that the proximity to Dallas/Texas makes it so that they will always be in the game.

True. US Americans need maps.

Normon is 177 miles to Wichita, KS, 190 miles to DFW.

That map makes the majority of tejas look like a football wasteland.

They had elite offenses under Riley but great on both sides of the ball? You'd have to go back to the Stoops era.

Oklahoma and Nebraska are extremely different due to OU being a 2.5 hr drive from the Dallas metro and a huge following in Dallas. OU could easily fall into some periodic dark ages like Bama in the early 2000s and Tennessee in the 2010s but there is too much talent nearby to fall off the map like Nebraska.

At the end of the day, it's still considered an out of state school. It will be harder to convince a player to leave Texas when they have two great options in-state that have more money than OU.

If OU hits a rough patch, they could very well become the next Arkansas. Back in the 80s, Arkansas recruited DFW and East Texas just as good as OU does today. But their lack of success changed that. Now that OU has to play schools with actual talent, I don't think it's farfetched to predict a bleak future.

Tejas and SMU. Agreed. Aggy almost makes it three better alternatives than OU.

How soon we forget that OU has DOMINATED the Longhorns and Texas A&M for the past 10 years in every regard. Have a look at playoff appearances and conference championships. This season is a one-off for Texas. Check into it.

OU = more with less
UT = less with more

Also of note:

OU National Championships 7
UT National Championships 4
A&M National Championships 24

lol gotcha

The competition for spots in Texas schools, and outside of Texas for Texas students, has created a situation, for the last decade and a half, where OU and Ark aren't really viewed in a negative way. A successful Texas high school student who wants to go to a large public university looks at Texas and A&M and then OU and then Ark.

Athletes care even less about "in state". A Dallas athlete's family is just as close to Norman as they are to Austin and College Station.
