Per capita hate of people who pay attention to the sport I do think Staley would be #1 and Vitello would be #2.

Muss has cooled his hate seat with the Arkansas turmoil. That’s why I put Oats ahead. Vitello for sure has baseball. Staley and Mulkey are tied for womens basketball, tho LSU would disagree. I disliked her at Baylor tho so I’m biased. Football is now Kirby? And no one really dislikes Kirby. I know some people will say A&M, but I don’t think Elko will rub people the wrong way. Seems grounded.

He’s a great coach and i like how his teams play. I said that when he was at Buffalo. But since year 2 at bama the guy has carried himself like a smug prick. Thinks he’s coach K but hasn’t sniffed a final 4.

I don't really follow basketball but there are really only three reasons why this board will talk about a coach negatively.
1. The coach is beating everyone/building something and rival fans are trying to convince themselves that he's bad because of XYZ. The coach's fanbase always thinks it's because of this.
2. The coach is a dumbass and everyone is laughing at you. See Jimbo.
3. The coach is a douche and no one likes him/her. See Vitello.

I'm fine with people not liking Oats, Saban, Deboer, or any of our coaches because opposing teams don't like coaches they might lose to. Everybody liked Bill Curry and Mike Shula because they weren't fearful of playing their teams. If you think it's a good thing for other teams to like your coaches then good for you. I want our coaches to be disliked and win.

It would be impossible for a basketball coach to be the most hated coach in the SEC.

He comes across as unlikeable for opposing fans. But that is not why everyone hates him and talks about him so much here. There are several unlikeable coaches in the SEC that don’t get nearly the attention.
The reason he is hated is that 1) he has won the SEC two of the last three years and 2) has made LSU his bitch in the process going 8-2 against them and hanging 105 or more on them three times. That is why he is hated so much here.
If he was going 6-12 in the SEC every year no one would care.
