State also elected to hold on to 4 scholarships and give them to grad transfers to fill immediate needs

Yep. OM finished one spot ahead of State because State undersigned. State then filled the class with transfers: a starting QB, a starting WR, and a possible starting DL. Plus all of our signees will make it to campus. So we have a much better class coming in.

The LSU athletic dept is doing very well. It's one of only four major college athletic that is totally self sustaining. No money from university goes to it. In fact athletic dept gives between 8 and 10 million to university every year.

How much does your schools athletic dept give back? Better yet how much money does school give to it?

JUCO is very hit and miss. They are good to plug in a few holes, but not something you can rely on heavily.

And Funes was laundering hospital money through athletes just so they could give it all back to him

Being a State fan, I am rarely optimistic, but I do have to disagree with the people predicting State will quickly return to the bottom of the SEC now that Mullen is gone.

Moorhead's 2018 recruiting class was solid, and the 2019 class had a higher average player rating than any class Mullen ever put together at State. Throw in the post- recruiting day transfers, and his offseason haul was the best we have ever seen.

His offense is better than Nullen's and we know he is a better gameday coach than Mullen, because, well, who isn't?

Moorhead might not get us to the "next level" (whatever that is), but I don't see him dropping us down to doormat status anytime soon, either.

He’s done a good job of hiring and replacing staff that work hard at recruiting. There’s no members on staff that are sticking around because they’re his “buddies” even though they can’t recruit. He’s definitely a harder worker than Mullen and his staff. TBD on his ability to develop players, especially the Qb position. Mullen is one of the best at that for sure.

So you are saying he has room to double his performance..

Thanks...

Sweat, 53 tackles-14 for a loss- 11.5 sacks- 7 QBh
Rivers, 24 tackles- 7 for a loss- 2.5 sacks- 4 QBh

Rivers with double that time:

48 tackles, 14 TFL, 5 sacks, 8 QBh

So again.. The point that you want to keep dismissing because you them to be bad is that it's not much drop off.

But.. I'm not going to argue with you on it. You will lose at MS ST.

This, dont think Moorhead is going down a good path with this. You cant rely on all these JUCOs, it's extremely hit and miss when in reality you should be hitting on a lot more JUCOs than missing due to how old they are. Trying to put too many bandaid players on something that isn't really bleeding that much. He's not going to be able to win enough games as the 4-year MS JUCO.

Going back looking at all the JUCOs LSU has gotten, usually 3 max a year. It's always been so completely hit or miss:

2018
OLB Travez Moore - Basically didn't play last year
OT Badara Traore - Challenged for RT early on, but was beat out and we still sucked at RT
OG Damien Lewis - Big time hit, starter at RG all season, all conference type player coming into this season

2017
None

2016
NT Travonte Valentine - Bust big time

2015
None

2014
OT Jevonte Domond - Never played
TE Colin Jeter - Starter at TE for 2 years, but not much a receiving threat at all

2013
WR Quantavious Leslie - Did nothing
TE Logan Stokes - Backup TE with 1 catch
OG Fehoko Fanaika - Backup OLineman

2012
None

I mean, meh

I'll agree if he does this again next year. Mullen left the MSU roster pretty bare in some spots, though

Jackie Sherrill 2.0. They thought he was great at the end too.

There's no reason to go out and fill up half a class full of JUCOs/transfers

Who is "they"?

State fans knew JWS had checked out. He had an axe to grind with the NCAA.

Turns out he was right

The odds of them qualifying academically?

I remember that as well. But I think that was like 2-3 years ago.

That and it typically takes them a year to adjust...leaving them with only one year to truly contribute.

Maybe, but I would think it would be the program they go to from JUCO.

Let's take LSU for the example. Your programs of the past has not been built on development as much as it was on getting the elites out of HS.

Teams like Ms St had to rely on major red shirting. Mullen red shirted a whole class if I remember correctly. And spent massive amounts into developing players.

I can list a ton of JUCO's that moved on to the NFL. Ms St just sent 2 in the first round alone. BOTH were 3 stars.

So a quick search and I turned up this.. all via MS ST to the NFL and these came from JUCO:

2019:

Sweat
Abram

2018:

Martinas Rankin
Jordan Thomas

I didn't look past those years. I'm just saying that it's the program and what they have to do to compete. And MS St has done well putting those players in the NFL. And to be honest, you don't have to put players in the NFL to have a great season in College.

The RB for Dak was Robinson. Where is he? 4 years out of HS at Ms St and was a beast for them. He's not pro.
