Is Jimbo a Richt or a Saban?

Jimbo has undoubtedly made A&M a more competitive team but he has lost both games against the two top ranked teams he has played. Will he be the kind of coach that is competitive but loses, kind of like Mark Richt, or do you think that he really will elevate A&M to win some big games?

In before:
- A&M will crush Ole Miss
- Ole Miss is not even competitive
- Matt Luke sucks
- Ole Miss loses the party

He just got there. Give him time to get rid of Sumlin's weak arse players...

I'm not criticizing him. I just wonder if he will be a Richt or a Saban.

I think Jimbo may prove to be worth the money. He has a young team and Aggy is #2 in recruiting right now.

He lost to Clemson by 2 on a number of serious bullshite officiating mistakes. I don't think the Alabama score is a proper representation of anything. Alabama's weakness last year was QB production, which will NOT be a problem this year.

He’s taking over a team that stayed with Sumlin for three years too long. Sumlin is the same guy who told Khalil Tate (300 yards rushing as a QB in one game) not to run anymore. Jimbo needs a solid 2-3 years just to get rid of the Sumlin stench.

I can't let it go that he had a losing season his last year at Florida State and he left that program in the toilet.

When he got to FSU, the Seminoles were clearly the best team in the ACC. Clemson not only usurped them, so did half the ACC by the time he left.

Saban has never had a losing season. He's not close to Saban.

All that said, I wouldn't completely count him out just yet. I just have to see before I give in to the hype.

I never bought the Sumlin hype. His Houston team was bad when he didn't have Keenum.

I didn't buy that Kenny Hill game against Carolina either. I saw the game- wide open guys all day. It told me more about Carolina that year than Hill.

Manziel beating Bama was the one highlight. Fisher isn't close to beating Bama yet obviously.

Time will tell. I'm skeptical. Difficult to ascertain whether Sumlin was that bad and Jimbo is just doing what most decent coaches would do with that roster or if he's actually one of the better coaches. Again, how does one of the better coaches suck it up at FSU?

Well Jimbo is already better than Richt considering he has a natty to his name but to entertain the OP I will say he will be a Richt as long as Alabama has Nick Saban.

Keep in mind that Richt did win big games his first couple of years and then got way too complacent in his "CEO" philosophy by retaining bad coordinators and assistants.

Fisher is certainly not a Saban, or even as good as Meyer, but he's nearly certainly among the top 10 coaches in the nation, perhaps among the top 5.

Its hard to ask a question when you know everyone will derail.

I think Jimbo's stint @ FSU already proved he's not a Richt. There are no Sabans. There is only Saban. But Jimbo is much more in the mold of Saban. He's hard-nosed, hard-working, recruit your arse off, and puts process over results.

I can see A&M becoming a 10 win program in the matter of 2 years

Neither.

He is a very good recruiter and game planner but does struggle some on gameday. Always thought he didn't adjust well when he didn't out talent teams.

Still. He is a top ten coach. Aggies will do well with the guy.

He's a sumlin.

Compare fisher's record to sumlin's in their last three seasons, both with heisman winners. They're all but identical.

you act like richt never won any big games

to answer your question he's not gonna be saban but nobody ever will be, so kinda dumb analogy.

Jimbo is Jimbo. He is neither Saban nor Richt. aTm looks like a good match for him, but it's still early. If after FSU, he flames out there too, he's toast.

that's debatable. Is chizik better than richt? How about coker?

Jimbo went 83-23 at FSU (in a weaker league) and finished in the top 10 4 times. Richt went 145-51 in a tougher league and finished in the top 10 8 times.

You can make the case that they're actually very similar coaches, one just had a slightly better season once than the other.
