There just wasn’t an appetite to bring in a coach who, although a brilliant play caller, had a long track record of immaturity and a reputation (whether rightfully earned or not) for fraternizing.
Coming off the heels of Orgeron, who collapsed after the title due to lack of focus and showed up on social media in bed with a younger woman.
Couple that with the NCAA investigation and a civil suit against the school (which LSU eventually won) which were still active) LSU’s brass wanted the safest, most milquetoast hire out there.

There’s no comparison. Kiffin didn’t inherit the dumpster fire BK did. This is not opinion, this is a fact. No one with any semblance of reasoning skill would argue this.
Kiffin is a good coach. He is not a great coach. His track record at the time BK was hired wasn’t even mediocre for a big school in the SEC standards, it was below average. He had 1 10 win season in the P5, 2 seasons after which he got fired for starting out 2-3 or something like that.
Since he’s been at Ole Miss, he’s 37-15. This is not the record of a great coach. He’s just got a flamboyant personality that makes people think he’s better than he is.
This team may make the playoffs and do some cool things. But he has not proven, not one time, that he is capable of being elite. Ever.

You are a fricking moron. Well, maybe not a moron, just didn't pay attention or do any research about the team Kiffin inherited before saying it was a better situation than the one Brian Kelly had. What were LSU's recruting rankings in 2020 and 2021? Both top 5. Think Kiffin had that kind of talent waiting for him being recruited by Matt Luke while Ole Miss was on probation? Yes LSU was 6-6 the year Kelly took over, Ole Miss was 4-8 the year before Kiffin took over.

You obviously don’t know the LSU fanbase. 50% of the fanbase wants to fire the coach every single week, after every possession that we either don’t score, or allow the other team to score.
At any given time, you can find a lot of LSU fans who like Kelly and an equal amount that can’t stand the man.

That is the only LSU/Kiffin rumor I am aware of.

That is correct. Kiffin was supposed to be O’s OC, but was offered, and he accepted, the Florida Atlantic head coach position
