Are you really going to hand the reigns over to Orgeron?

for the sake of argument, if he finished the season 10-2 or 9-3, LSU would be ignorant not to give him a hard look, regardless of what he did 10 years ago at Ole Miss. And it all depends on how they look in games down the stretch. If they get blown out by Alabama, A&M, etc, then no they should not hire him. If he plays a good game against Alabama and wins the rest of the games he coaches, why wouldn't you give him a shot? It would definitely be an easier transition than it would be hiring a brand new guy. Orgeron likely would retain most of the staff, wants the job, has experience at a big time program at USC, is a great recruiter, etc.

At the end of the day, it's too early to say if Orgeron is "the guy" or not, but that won't stop people from posting about it daily. Good thing for LSU is that he gets on the job interviewing each week, and it costs LSU nothing and only provides them with more information in making their decision. It's actually a great situation to be in for LSU.

i heard Herman got a big extension coming

that is predicated upon them getting a Big 12 invite, which isn't looking great at the moment. Houston can't afford to otherwise.

I think I heard that he would have gotten a $5m bonus if UH got into the Big 12. That is insane.

that's what I was reading too. It's not that insane. A 5 million a year salary isn't even that crazy anymore with what coaching salaries have become. They can only do this because of the TV deals. Without the TV deal that comes with a Big 12 invite, Houston flat out cannot afford to pay him 5 million. And it's sounding more and more like the Big 12 isn't adding anyone. And now that Houston is out of the CFP picture, there is no reason to consider adding a commuter school to the Big 12.

Hermann never was hot in my book (I have the post record to prove it). I am not a favorite of his offensive style. But if he wins titles I would get over it.

Now that he has two bad losses and UH has been spurned for Big12 expansion I am sure someone will take a shot at him.

how is this any different than Sumlin when he coached there or Malzahn at Arkansas State, Meyer at Utah, etc? Why would players quit on him when they were, a few weeks ago, in line for a playoff birth? I don't really buy that argument. Maybe they mailed it in against SMU after losing all playoff hopes with a loss to Navy, but I don't think that has to do with Herman being the hot name out there for a P5 job

Because somehow Arkansas let Berts agent talk them into a ridiculous buyout. I think it's 8M until 2020. They are so fricked.

Herman may end up being a great Coach. I just don't think he has the skins on the wall.

I would take Justin Fuentes over Herman at this point.

Tom Herman is still my first choice no matter what happens at UH or at LSU the rest of this season.

It was exactly the same with Sumlin.

When we fired Sherman and set our sights on Sumlin the UH was about to play Fedora's USM for a conference title. UH had a BCS bowl bid on the line, it was easily the biggest game for the program up until that point.

The team came out lethargic and distracted and lost. Even Sumlin looked out of it. We announced him as our coach not that much later.

It happens. When Bear got the call from Bama he dropped a game to Rice. RICE!

I have no idea about Texas vs. LSU, but something that has been ignored regarding the 2 losses is the effect the rumors have on the UH locker room. In 1957 under Bear A&M was 8-0 and ranked #1. Then the Bear-to-Bama rumors cranked up, and A&M promptly lost the next 3, to #20 Rice, unranked Texas at home, and #13 UT in the Gator Bowl.

I think Herman is a fine coach... who should definitely take the USC job.

Nah let Texas have him. They will ruin him, he isn't a good politician.
