Yes. I'm not a fan of Oxford and I haven't been to Athens.

Very nice. Would much rather have a home and home with them.

I've never been to Lexington, but I hear nothing but good things about that town as well. Time for me to get back on the road.

The way most people use "nice" Athens isn't the leader. Is it the most fun/best/etc. college town? I think that is the consensus for sure.

Athens has a lot more gritty/poor areas than Fayetteville, but it is absolutely the best college town in the SEC, probably the nation.

I realize this is largely just semantics.

I liked Lexington a lot when I went. The horse track would have eaten me alive if I had went to school there, though.

Vandy has the best baseball program in the SEC. That's enough.

Fayetteville is a pretty awesome place to live. It combines SEC college town with a clean, safe entertainment area, and great outdoors options.

There's better hiking and bouldering in the city limits of Fayetteville than there is in some SEC states altogether. Great cycling culture, fantastic trail system, and lots of good neighborhoods. Lots of brand new stuff, too. It gets better every year.

that also has a shite ton of bad spots, run down areas, crime and poor people

can also be said for every town in America just about.

That's sort of like an Alabama fan saying all schools have bad apples. I like Athens, and lived there. But we all know it has serious problems, and I'm pretty sure while I was there ACC was one of the poorest large counties in America. Thankfully, and unlike in some other areas of the country, it rarely bleeds over into college or visitor life.

Maybe I have missed something, but I don't think Auburn is a nice town.

Can't get enough Athens, place is magical on gamedays and for New Years.

But Athens is extremely sketchy and unsafe if choose to walk most places like I do. I guess everywhere is as safe as Oxford, but in a nut shell Athens is one or two housing projects away from being Baton Rouge or Knoxville type ghetto.

I have been robbed in Athens twice walking back from the bars. I am gonna blame the first time on my own stupidity but the second time was a planned robbery that some thugs stalked me from the bars to where I was staying with a get away car and everything, they defiantly do that scheme regularly.

Fayetteville is a great little town.

Shame it's filled with people from Arkansas though.

Someone mentioned "natural setting." I'd put Lexington at or near the top if that's your criteria. The horse farms that ring the city really are gorgeous. Think 3000 acre putting greens with four board fences dotting the rolling hills.
