Toast of college football last year. Now some Aggies are calling for his job.

Bad QB play and poor OC.recipe for disaster.

I certainly hope so L-Co plus a microphone are solid fricking gold

The meltdown after the Texas game last year was just a harbinger of greatness to come.

His seat is getting warmer. There is more going on here besides just Elko's bad decisions to keep Reed in. That will probably change very soon. Citadel shouldn't be a problem for them. It will be interesting to see how long Reed stays in the game.

I have zero insight or contacts within the program. But it seems enormously wasteful to pay 2 coaches who are no longer coaching… $100m over the next however many years…. To not coach.

I just don’t see how they can get rid of him at this point.

Pretty sure LSU crossed that Rubicon last year when they fired Kelly because they were still paying Orgeron.

Now the amount of money and duration you could be paying 3 might set the record that part I will not challenge lol.

They would be stupid to fire him.

I doubt they fire Elko, but he's for damn sure going to be forced to get a new OC and offensive coaches if he hasn't already decided to do that.

IF thy fired Elko they would have to go cheap again.

They still owe Jimbo through 2031 $7M/yr and they would owe Elko $10-$11M/yr through 2031.

That's $18M/yr roughly on head (not even assistants) fired coaches for the next FIVE years

I saw the just give Cignetti a blank check suggestions. Cignetti is making $13.2M/yr right now, say he would leave for only a small raise, $15M. He has a $15M buyout 1 time payment then would make $15M/yr at A&M.

That means in year 1 of Cignetti it would cost A&M: $48M
Year 2 - Year 5: $33M/yr

JUST for the head coach position

We said that once. Our first game as an SEC member.

Our head coach resigned in shame the next day.

Well he trashed some of the fanbase, so it's understandable.

I know one very important thing he could finally accomplish to put this behind him and establish some momentum again going into next year.

Seat definitely gets warmer if you shite the bed after your school's best season in decades.

But do they take on that buyout at the same time as Jimbo? And pay for the buyout of a new coach and staff?

I think firing is premature at the moment, but if nothing changes in next 2 seasons he will be gone

He gets the “fire the OC” mulligan to return next year, but he needs to move on from Reed or get that kid to 180 to keep next year from getting real awkward.
