Ole Miss is an everything school. Top SEC program currently across the board

Definitely has the rage problem to fill those shoes. Might as well go to a place where that's celebrated.

IU has really deep pockets for any NIL battle. The in state talent is still very good. You are at a basketball first school in a basketball crazed state in a major conference. I’d say really good coaches will be interested. Beard or McCollum would kill it there.
I'd back the Brinks truck up for Todd Golden.

I don't think so. Eventually Beard is going to wind up at a school that cares 10 times more about basketball than Texas.

I don't think he'd be interested but Pearl would kill it at Indiana.

That can be a good or bad thing for a coach.

Fvck Indiana. I'd rather Beard stay at Ole Miss than go to Bloomington and make those cocksuckers relevant again.

Why? That’s SOP during a coaching search. I’m sure they knew there was basically no chance he would say yes, but you have to make the call regardless. Beard and McCoullum should be the top two choices. McCollum may say no, but I have no doubt that Beard would take it. However, I don’t think IU has the balls to do that.

We were openly mocked for making calls to folks that this board deemed "never coming to Kentucky".
But apparently, it's cool for Indiana to do so.

I hope he doesn’t leave, but if I were beard I’d hold out for a better job with more resources.. I mean he has ole miss at 10-8 in one of the hardest league years I can remember. If he stays put for a year or 2 longer when a “blue blood” opens up that actually has NIL support he could jump there.
Tradition was a cool talking point 15 years ago but basketball is like all other sports now.. first question to the AD is now “how much NIL support will I get”. If it’s not more than ole miss and his salary isn’t going to make a massive jump what’s the draw?

People seem genuinely ignorant of the money and resources back IU basketball. IU has the name, tradition, rabid fan support and facilities but people forget the serious financial backing.

Coaches Believe Indiana Contends For Nation's Best NIL Situation
In a CBS Sports survey of over 100 men's college basketball coaches asking which programs they believe have the best NIL situations, Indiana received the fifth highest percentage of votes.
to shed light on this dynamic of college athletics, CBS Sports college basketball insiders Gary Parrish and Matt Norlander surveyed 100-plus Division I men's basketball coaches – from the sport's biggest names to low-major assistants – for their annual Candid Coaches series.
On Wednesday, they published a portion of the series that anonymously asked coaches the question: Which three programs do you believe have the best NIL situations?
Here are the results, including the percentage of ballots each team appeared on.
Arkansas, 73.7%
Kansas, 43.2%
BYU, 30.6%
Kentucky, 25.3%
Indiana, 16.9%

I can tell you that there are only a handful of programs that have more resources for basketball than IU. The boosters have sat on their hands (and pocketbooks) waiting for someone to get excited about. They are a true sleeping giant.

Yeah. I obviously don’t want him to leave but it’s almost unrealistic to expect him to turn down a program like IU to stay with us unless he thinks he can get a better job with better resources, or we give him a ridiculous raise in salary and NIL commitment.
If Indiana offers him, he’s gone unless they lowball the frick out of him.

Ole Miss can easily match the salary but not the NIL commitment. Comes down to how much Beard values the chance that Keith and Ole Miss gave him. A lot of schools opted to not give him that chance.

Indiana has cherished basketball ever since 1971-72, the first season of the great Bobby Knight.
I can't remember who the coach was before Bobby Knight, but during his last season the Hoosiers went 17-7 and everyone in that state regarded them as failures.

Branch McCracken won a couple of titles with the Hoosiers back in the day.
