Did he really not realize he didn't have to offer Johnson, a coach who was unemployed in the ranks the last 2.5 years the same what they were trying to pay for an established elite college basketball coach?

We have to overpay Muffin a bit to get him to stay at MSU. He has done a fine job.

You guys (reportedly) are giving a guy with zero college coaching experience as much money as Bo Ryan.

Maybe the new way math is being taught is throwing me, but from my old way $4 million is not the same as $3 million.

Alabama's athletic department revenue was $93 million more than MSU's last year ($153 million versus $60 million). They aren't sweating a million here or there, but I can see why this would be alarming to the OP.
