Frank Thomas is one of the few great players from the 90s who have never been linked to steroid use

What that isn't what you said to start with
If Matt Jones qualifies as a "shitty" football player, your bar is extremely high and very off.

Poor niave kid.
His body broke down at the end of his prime (red flag) and then he had one of the best years of his career at age 38 (red flag).

So Frank must have been on roids in the late 80s at AU or possibly in high school because he was the exact same size. Frank is just a meat head genetically. What is funny about those commercials are that Frank and Bo are just two out of shape fat guys now with big arms. They couldn't even hide Bo's belly by sitting him down or Frank's belly by putting a parachute designed as a polo over it.

You mean the season that isn't even in his top 5 as he was below career avgs in batting, slugging and OBP?
That's a fricking joke if you just are going off home runs. Plenty of guys have an old age home run year without steroids
Hit extra base hits were at one of the lowest full season totals of his entire career. Even less than his age 39 season

There are a lot of big guys. It just seems comical that everyone else is under the cloud of steroids and he isn't. As a lifelong Astro fan, some people think little Biggio did roids too. And you very well could have. But there is no one that knows if the big hurt did or not except for him and God.

Maybe because Nearly every other player has been linked or rumored to use steroids. Frank Thomas has never been linked or rumored to be a PED guy
Thomas is I believe the only 500+ HR club member fron the steroid era to escape accusations
There is no F'ing way he could keep that a secret given both his status and extreme vocal anti PED position

Yes because he had teammates who accused him
Is Frank Thomas do well loved that not a single player, staffer or friend would even hint at suspicious activity?
No jealous players trying to expose a fraud then or now?

For the record, I'm not even that anti PED in baseball. Given the prevalence, I'd put those Mofos in Cooperstown.
I'm not defending Thomas as much as calling you out for trying to make a shitty steroid user joke considering Thomas has never been linked/accused of PEDs
Do better man

Then I'm not sure why you're calling others naive. Just because a HOF player had a great season late in his career, that's a red flag?
He never led the AL in HR or RBI in a hitter's park, during an era where sluggers were posting video game numbers.

It wasn't even a great season. Based on offensive win shares, it wasn't even one of Thomas's top 10 season offensively. Hell, if you doubled the O-win shares it still wouldn't crack top 5
Farmer is just being a dumbass in an attempt to justify his shitty joke.

A decade later and we are still waiting on Frank to deflate...ofcourse he could still be on roids

So which one should I go with? I have to think Bo Knows how to fix that low T

There is a reason for that. You never saw him put on 20lbs. of muscle over the off-season.

The only schools without a "T" in their name or nickname are Georgia, Ole Miss, and Arkansas.

Bo and Big Hurt - 2 of my favorite athletes of all time (and I’m a huge Bama fan).

He was 4th in the MVP voting and hit 39 bombs. That kind of power that late is what juice monkeys do.

Except he didn't have real "juice" power, Frank Thomas actually had a significant decline in extra base hits that season. For nearly every steroid user, their power translates into additional extra base hits. Look at Barry Bonds who despite getting slower had his most extra base htis (2B + 3B + HR) in his career in advanced age
Even if your clearly incorrect arguemnt was valid though, plenty of players have had huge HR seasons in later years. If you put an asterisk by all of them, it would look like Bonds was chasing an empty record since Hank Aaron hit 40 HR at age 39. Bonds wouldn't even be chasing Babe Ruth who hit 41 HR at age 37
I'll start the list I dug up with an honorable mention to Lou Gehrig who hit 29HR at age 35 with fricking ALS
Then let's start crossing off quite a few more guys who had some of their best years in advanced ages too
Ted Williams (Age: 38) - 38 HR - 2nd best HR season in career
Reggie Jackson (Age: 36) - 39HR was 3rd best season total
Ernie Bank (Age: 37) - 32 HR - first 30+ HR season in 6 years
Mike Schmidt (Age: 37) - 35 HR - following age36 season w/ 37HR
Carlton Fisk (Age: 38) - 37HR
quote:
He was 4th in the MVP voting
That wasn't even a top 10 Frank THomas season let alone deserving of a top 5 MVP finish
It was a feel good comeback story that resonates with press voters, nothing more
