Kind of telling that Auburn has just as many with way fewer, and LSU has multiple despite fewer seasons as well.

Just goes to show Texas gets the benefit of the doubt without deserving it.

Surely Texas didn’t come to your small stadium and kick your arse that very season, right? Right???
And Auburn never lost to Tim Tebow either. Doesnt take away FL's championship

interesting that LSU has only appeared at #1 5 times, yet they have won 4 titles, and the one they lost, they still appeared in the championship game. Meanwhile, Texas has appeared 15 times, and only won once. It sounds like Texas is usually underrated, and LSU only gets that #1 label when it's deserved.

Wait, what? If you want to throw shade, fine. But don’t say stupid shite.

Texas has four MNCs. Three of them undefeated seasons. The fourth is bullshite because Texas was not undefeated having lost the bowl game to ND but received the UPI-Coaches because they still awarded before the bowls at that time.

LSU only 5 times? Shocking honestly...I figured the Burrow teams spent a ton of time up there.

It may look funny but they at least have a case to be the best team that year or have a share of the title

yet they have won 4 titles
LSU's record in championships across sports must be at the top or near

The great Nick Sabans head is mounted on Sarkisians wall, thats why the respect right now, if it werent for him making nick run from his own home theyd be ranked 5th and highly doubted.

Notre Dame with 26 and last time they ended the season #1 was 1988

If you were a Southern school during the bowl era, it was a difficult task to get the AP voters to recognize your team. Notre Dame was a mythical figure and literally held the media in the palm of their hands for decades. The number of Heismans, Championships, and poll prejudice reflected the loyalty and homage they constantly paid to Touchdown Jesus.

One thing UTrans fans can hang their hat on is that they hold the distinction of being the only major university in the world to ever have a dildo parade!

Darrell Royal had a very good team in the early 60s. A writer asked him what it would take to win the national championship, and his response was, "Well, first Notre Dame has to lose."

Georgia Tech really should've been #1 in the AP poll in 1990 over Colorado. If only we had championship games back then.

Or fifth downs weren't allowed. Amirite Missouri fans?

In the 1990s a priest was put in charge of admissions who decided the football program was getting too many exceptions. All high school transcripts had to go through his office. If their transcript didn't show they were prepared to pass calculus their freshman year, they couldn't be offered. That's not the only new restriction, but that was a big one.

It was a big part of why Lou Holtz stepped down when he did. He no longer felt like he could put a competitive team on the football field.

These restrictions would remain in place for quite some time. Even when Notre Dame would have a successful season, it was mostly from playing mistake free football. I'll never forget when they faced an Oregon State team in 2000 coached by Dennis Erickson. It was a bunch of thugs, but they were a very good football team. Completely waxed Notre Dame in the Fiesta Bowl, 41-9.

They went through 8 years with Tyrone Willingham and Charlie Weis before hiring Brian Kelly. Before he would take the job he got some allowances for players he could bring in. It wasn't an open door policy like at most competitive football programs, but he received some waivers.

Still, part of the reason he left for the LSU job is because Notre Dame didn't appear committed to NIL, and he still had academic restrictions other programs didn't face in terms of high school recruits and transfers.

Notre Dame has really stepped up their NIL commitment after Kelly left, and they've figured out ways to loosen the reins a bit on transfers. I'm not sure that happens if he hadn't left.

So… the SEC not some incredible week in, week out grind that everyone screamed at Texas fans ad nauseam before they joined?

Damn. Lots of downvotes but nobody could reply. Guess the sec really isn’t as tough as yall said it was

Texas lost two times last year in the SEC, both times to UGA.
Perhaps you need to rethink your statement.
