I got drunk and emailed Ross Bjork about that banner years ago. He actually replied a few weeks later and said he appreciated the fan desire to have the banner removed but it was too disrespectful to the players and coaches of that season

Not embarrassing but ridiculous that For some reason Mizzou chooses to have never claimed their 1960 national title in which after kansas DQ were undefeated 11-0.
The schools biggest claim that is false is probably that we are southern. We are in reality Midwest southern which is a different thing all together.

I respect your admin not claiming such title.
In 1946 Bama was 10-0, blasting USC in the Rose Bowl (their first loss in 10 appearances) and finished 2nd in the AP. The school does not claim a NC, even though some selectors gave them a title.
In 1966 Bama was only undefeated/untied team at 11-0 blasting Neb in the Sugar Bowl but finished 3rd in AP. School does not claim that title even though again there were selectors who gave them one.
Irony of ironies, in 1941 Bama went 9-2, finishing 20 in the AP (appropriately) and for some mysterious reason the admin makes a preposterous claim on that one. There was an actual selector who inexplicably gave them a title.
Anyway, I respect your admin's restraint by not claiming that title since neither wire service selected them. Missouri has a much better history than most remember. Spanked Bama in '68 and '75, both were worse than the score indicated. Devine was a very good coach. So, too Faurot and of course Pinkel.

Yep, Alabama earned ‘66... ‘41? Not so much.
I remember the loss to Missouri in ‘75... as a 12 year old boy I kept expecting Bear to somehow win the game for us. Was the only loss of the season.
