Clemson

Consistently ranked among the most elite college football programs in the United States, the team is known for its storied history, distinctive helmet, fight song, and colors, as well as the many traditions associated with the school.

Come on man. You guys cribbed a lot of your "traditions" from Auburn and LSU, and I don't just mean the mascot.

(Which, btw - fix your damn mascot. He looks like Aubie if Aubie got hooked on meth for 5 years).

I heard that John Heisman went there after coaching for Auburn and built Clemson in the same image. Their helmets and uniforms are very distinction though I'll give them that

They have a graphic featuring Mike on one of their walls.

The defense wasnt that bad in 2019, not great but it isnt like it was garbage.

13th in scoring defense, played good enough to win vs Auburn and ran into an all time great offensive unit in LSU.

I mean it was fine but we couldn’t get stops when it mattered

That defense was green and literally patched together with a ton of guys that had zero college experience. They will get better as they mature, but they were not up to the caliber we are used to seeing.

You think the downfall is due to something that changed at Bama. Nothing has changed except the rest of the SEC. Look at the games Bama has lost during their run. It was against teams that had good QBs, which were few and far between in the league the last 10 years. Bama has had very good DBs from a NFL prospect view, but I always thought it has been their weak link. And the fact that Saban and Smart coached them made it more puzzling. Teams score points in handfuls today, pouncing the rock will not stop that. CF is following the NFL in their style of play.

We’re not totally new money, but we’re definitely king of the mountain right now. And will be for the foreseeable future.

Might as well get used to it.

Yes, over 1/3 of our defensive starters were true freshman. One of them didn’t even play that position in HS...

When a program is in a strong position, it can often operate however it wishes to. But, during more barren times, they're usually well served by playing to their historic strengths and their traditional brand of football.

I don't see the Tide needing to 'go back to their roots' at the moment, but after Saban they may need to for a little while.

Controlling clock with run game will cut opponents’ offensive plays and scoring in half.

One reason giving up more points in recent years is directly related to abandoning the ground and pound clock control run game and defense playing a lot more plays.

That’s reasonable.

Bama’s ability to develop a mauling O-Line to go with Elite Elite talents is the thing that scares me most. They are probably the only program that can do it.

Even when we blew them out, they ran the ball just fine. That was against our best DLINE ever. If they would have stuck with that that game would have been different.

Refresh my memory, but wasnt Dale going to start regardless? And its not like McMillon had a ton of experience either. Sounds like a recruiting issue.

In principle thats true but the dude was recruited to be a linebacker and was projected by many to be the best linebacker in Louisiana despite not playing the position. It isnt like the guy changed positions out of necessity.
