Not really. Dude had championship caliber talent but was a drama queen. He benefited from great legacy kids but couldn’t recruit at a high level without them. He didn’t recruit Oline at all. You need 3-4 a year and he recruited 3-4 total in his stay at Tennessee.

Not even the reporting that gets me, because Cottrell was dirty, the Memphis tripper was a sleaze, and DuBose was dumb. It was the lengths he went to to try to hammer Alabama, getting Roy Cramer in on it, the car dealer, the secret witnesses, etc., and he'd been doing the exact same thing all along himself. In essence, he was pissed because he got outbid (though I still don't believe that amount of money ever changed hands and if they really did buy the high school coach a vehicle that would have been easy enough to prove with tag, title, & registration records, which they never produced). Then he was a cowardly little bitch when they sued him, running from the process servers, lol.

Buck up Buckeroo and look at it this way... It usually only takes 3 years for Tennessee to buy out the coach and begin the search for your next mistake.
