Just to be fair, we have ruined plenty of careers also. Many who sat the bench their entire time and could have played 4 years at another school.
I am Bama through and through, but this analogy really isn't very good. All of our recruits could and should go to the nfl. We get all of the talent. Many here get beat out by someone better or a coaches favorite and never get their shot, seriously. Had they gone to a have not like MSU or Kentucky for example, they would have played 2-4 years and reached their potential against the best talent in the country in the SEC.
The best thing for these kids is to find the place where they fit in and can develop. It isn't to be selfish about our 30th or whatever it is national title at this point. We will get our players. Let everyone else have theirs. Be secure enough in yourself to allow this :-)

Alabama fans are funny. They act like the rest of the world doesn't know what a crappy state it is and the only thing in their poor lives worth living for in that God forsaken state is their local college football team. A college that most instate students are too stupid or poor to attend. At least the barn fans probably attended their school I guess why else would you pull for them?

Knoxville is gorgeous and our women top notch. Plus we actually have an economy in state.

Every bama graduate with a brain I know ends up moving to Atlanta or Florida. It's like what India university graduates do. Sad.

Since 2009, Alabama player rookie NFL contracts total a little over $548 million. Add in contract extensions and it adds up to almost a billion dollars.

Neither does LSU. I notice you had to go back really far for this list.

I don't have to do that. Alabama has two 3* players that will be drafted THIS YEAR (Both signed in Saban's 10th class). One might go as high as #2 overall.

Hell, we had a walkon leave last year who's a starting DB in the NFL now.

LSU players has as much if not more success in the NFL. The numbers show it.

Well, if you get injured, then you're stuck with a degree from Burger Flip U.

Oh wait, that's Auburn.

Eh, same same.

That's most likely that saban sees the 5*s that are actually good and recruits those guys. Not only that but saban is able to get the BEST 5* players every year. So yea the results can be pretty skewed.

How many guys who had NFL talent didn't get a chance to show it because they were buried on the depth chart? Only if I was obviously head and shoulders above everyone at my position would I go to bama. Plenty of programs put people in the NFL.

You're living proof that stupidity has no limits. If a guy thinks he's good enough and wants to make the NFL his profession after school, then like a engineering wannabe, he'll try to get into the best school to enhance his resume and his chances. Not only do the charts prove the OPs point, but I've been told by a pro coach (Jim Haslett) that Saban's guys are more highly respected by the pros because they're better trained and more advanced....but that's not gonna sink in with you I'm sure.

Because you wouldn't run the risk of being processed and run off when a higher ranked player comes along.

Tweek your hamstring and need to sit 2 months for full rehab?
-At Normal U -you get the best treatment possible, with everyone trying to get you back to health
-At Bama, you get processed or you ruin your career by doing further damage

We had a fricking #1 pick.

Central Michigan had a #1 pick.

If you're good enough the NFL will find you regardless of where you play

This is really it. You give any other SEC school the same recruiting classes that Bama has had over the past decade, the number of players getting into the NFL would probably be pretty similar.

Now, the coaching staff absolutely deserves credit for the wins and championships and developing everyone, no doubt. Not diminishing what they are doing, but if you have a roster that has double the number of 5* players as any other, there is a good chance they will get drafted at a higher % than a team that get's one 5* maybe every other year.

Alabama marginally passes LSU for the most active NFL players for the first time this millennium, and we get this. Why did you wait three months to post this? Did it take that long to process the thought or to edit for grammar?
