Arkansas St and the Citadel. That way we wouldn’t be accused by other conferences of playing out of conference “cupcakes”, they would be in our conference. Also the Citadel would give us a real military school instead of the faux one which we have now.

Fun question.

Dream scenario any 2 of the following 4...UNC, Duke, UVA, or Virginia Tech.

Don’t think any of them would ever leave...ACC ties run deep except VT.

Realistically probably NC State and VT.

Or maybe Ole Miss since they continually bring politics over to this board?

UNC and UVA would provide academic and athletic (mostly bball) credit to the conference

But I think their administrations would be a detriment over time and we'd end up with an influence we don't really want in this hyper-politicized/woke academic climate. Even if just athletically, it seems like it'd create problems we don't want.

Other options, Clemson, Oklahoma, etc. I like them as cultural fits, but do we really need other powerhouse programs?

What a new and fresh idea for a thread! My vote goes to Liberty, because so many of you DA's are rock hard to get Rev. Freeze back in the conference, and Talladega School for the Deaf and Blind because of that coveted Talledega metro area TV footprint.

Yet we seem to understand the difference between the football Rant and the Poli Board.

Virginia Tech and NC State- better cultural fits than UVA or UNC or Duke

Plus both are good engineering schools.

I know WVU wanted to join us but got turned down by us and ACC both. Then add Clemson.

Offseason thread during rivalry week? Da faq?

But my answer is Duke/UNC.

1. It brings in a new market and fits the region
2. It makes the SEC the top bball conference.
3. It brings in a fun rivalry that is as big as any in hoops.
4. It doesn't make the SEC football schedule more ridiculous than it already is. No, I don't want Clemson, OU, Ohio St, etc type teams.

We'd move to 4 divisions of 4.

West
A&M
Arkansas
Lsu
Mizzou

Central
MSU
Ole Miss
Bama
Auburn

Hoops
Duke
UNC
UK
Tenn

East
Georgia
Florida
U of SC
Vandy

You play your division each year, rotate thru the other divisions each year, and have 1 "rival" per division. It would keep all rivalries every year and you would play every team in the conference at least once every 3 years.

The winner of each division would play a 4 team tourney to decide the SEC champ. The SEC champ would automatically be seeded to the CFP title game.

Example of A&M's schedule

Year 1
Lsu
Arky
Mizzou

MSU
Ole Miss
Bama
Auburn

UofSC
Duke

Year 2
Lsu
Arky
Mizzou

Duke
UNC
UK
UT

MSU
UofSC

Year 3
Lsu
Arky
Mizzou

Georgia
Florida
U of SC
Vandy

UofSC
Duke

Oklahoma and VT.
Play 9 game conference season with the teams in your pod and then 2 in every pod. This would allow you to play every team 2x in a players 4 year career.

4 pods of 4:

West:
OU
LSU
A&M
Ark

North:
Mizzou
UK
UT
Vandy

East:
SC
Florida
Georgia
VT

South:
Ole Miss
State
Bama
Auburn
