The 2 best teams in the SEC may be in the west this year just in the Big 10 both may be in the division with OSU & PSU. The point is it is the best 4 teams which could be from the same conference, division, etc.

Exactly. I brought up the conference standings earlier. SEC west has a 10-2, 11-1, and 9-3 team at the top. East has 11-1, 8-4, 7-5. You have to go to 4th in the west to reach a 4 loss team, and USCe is sitting there second in the east at 8-4. If we didn't have divisions, there would be a 3-way tie at 7-1 for top of the conference. Of course Auburn would still win that since H2H wins against the other two 7-1 teams.

I am against the 8 team playoff because it will be driven by P5 conferences based on money to ensure they get at least 1 team in every year. Nothing to do with the best 8 teams in the country.

If they added conference champ that was in top 10 only maybe but it should be about getting the best teams in the finals.

Currently according to the polls the top 8 would have 3 SEC, 2 ACC, 2 Big 10, and 1 Big 12 playing in the CFB playoffs and would have no issue with that and would be some great games.

Think about this....with an 8-team playoff, Alabama could have thrown the Auburn game, rested their players and eliminated having to play a needless conference championship game completely.....and still made the playoffs....how is that right?

How can you claim any championship at all, division, conference or otherwise with 2 losses? It's a fricking 12 game schedule, how hard is it to go 12-0 or 11-1? Your turn. See how little explaining I did compared to you?

12 out of the last 25 NCAA tournament champions didn't win their conference tournaments.

You going to send them letters telling them they didn't really win the national title?

You guys are all using different sports to justify Bama getting in. CFB isn’t pro football, it isn’t CBB. Those sports have already gone away from meaningful regular seasons by including tons of teams in the playoffs.

CFB has never been like those other sports.

It's really simple. I don't care if you're 11-1 and everyone else in the country has 2-3 losses. If you can't win your division or conference, how can you claim a "National" championship?

So by your logic a wild card NFL team can never legitimately lay claim to a Super Bowl Title?
