It's amazing what an offense can do when they are taught to take what the defense is giving them.

The easiest example is when Jefferson plays the slot position. In this situation both Jefferson and Burrow read the safety pre and post snap. If the safety is playing inside to take away the slant Jefferson just runs an out where the WR on the boundary runs a deep rout and clears the way for Jefferson. If the safety plays outside to take away the out route Jefferson just slants inside to the space.

lol I’d like to think it’s something more than that. The offensive production and efficiency has been incredible. Willing to bet tons of college teams will use a spot on the staff for ex nfl passing coordinators now to try and catch lightning in a bottle like LSU did with Brady. Feel like a lot of ppl don’t understand how incredible burrow was against OU. When Lamar Jackson put up similar points on Syracuse they had 11 possessions in the first half; Burrow did that with 11 possessions for the entire game...

In terms of strength of schedule, they would be the GOAT. LSU will have played 11 bowl teams. If they end up winning, they will be the first to beat five 11+ win teams in a season. I believe only one other team has beaten four 11+ win teams. They also would be the first to have beaten seven top 10 teams (I don't think anyone has even beaten six top 10 teams before). And Texas would be the only one that isn't currently in the top AP top 10.

If any team DESERVES to win the NC, it's LSU.

Still claiming a top ten win for 8-5 Texas?

I see 3 top ten wins in Georgia, Oklahoma, and Florida.

LSU fans claim that Bama only played two top 25 teams and lost to both. Since A&M was ranked when Bama played them obviously y'all are not going by where the teams were ranked when they played, but using current rankings.

Can't have your cake and eat it too.

LSU is healthy.
And you had to play a real team in the semifinals for a change.

Different scenario altogether.

They didn't lose a game, but you're right, 2001 Miami isn't the best team ever.

1995 Nebraska is the pinnacle of college football teams

LSU will have beaten (with a win Monday) teams with the following win totals:

14
12
12
11
11
9
8
8
7
7
6

11 of the 15 teams were bowl eligible, including five legit title contenders + Auburn.

It's a fact that Texas was a top 10 team when LSU played them. They clearly will not finish in the top 10 and might not finish ranked at all even though they blew out a highly ranked Utah team in the bowl. However, LSU became the 1st team in the modern era to beat five top 10 teams when they played in the regular season regardless of where Texas finishes.

Georgia, OU, Florida, Bama and Auburn are currently in the top 9 in the AP Poll (Auburn is not in the top 10 of the Coaches Poll). IF LSU beats Clemson (IF being the key word), it would make five current top 10 wins when the final polls come out. Auburn will not finish in the top 10, but however you look at it, LSU will have done something that hasn't been done before.

No. Our defense while a good one is still not a great one. But, definitely in the top 20 all time at the very least.

Easily the best SEC team. Where they sit all time in CFB depends on how badly they beat Clemson

If their defense didn't get gashed a lot this season, sure.
Sorry but '95 Nebraska is the GOAT followed by 01 Miami.
'91 miami is better than both

Great explanation! The one game where the defense and box score doesn't get a pass though is the Florida game. Florida's offense wasn't great, but they scored 4 touchdowns including one to take a lead in the 3rd quarter. Florida IIRC had 2 other promising drives that ended in an interception and turnover on downs. How was Florida so effective offensively at LSU yet struggled as expected versus Auburn and Georgia?

They scored 24 points on Auburn with nearly 400 yards of offense.

You can make a case, a really damn strong one, of being the best SEC team ever. Or at the very least the best SEC season. They absolutely don't approach '95 nebraska though.

nebraska had 1 game all season that was within 2 scores, which they won by 14. Every other game was a blowout. LSU has had 3 games decided by 1 score. But to me what really puts nebraska over others is the title game. This isn't any fault of LSU and they can't help it...OU was mediocre but went to the 4th spot by default, clemson skated by on 12 cupcakes, and OSU was pretty good but relatively untested. No matter the score of the title game, they're playing a team they are very clearly superior to much like bama over notre dame in 2012. Some UF fans will tell you '95 was spurrier's best team. That was a DOMINANT floridai team. They beat 5 teams that were ranked at the time by an average score of abotu 42-22. They were in the top 5 of the polls all season and skulldragged just about everyone they played. It was a 3 point spread going into the game but nobody all yeaer had slowed down UF's high powered offense, they scored over 40 points 7 times. Not only did nebraska utterly demolish them by 40 points, they held them to only 24 which was pracically unthinkable at the time.

Bama barely got by GA last year in the SEC championship game. We demolished them. You also played a gimpy Tua in the NCG. You won’t be playing a gimpy Burrow. You taters need to really stop living in the past. Just setting yourself up for disappointment

In the conversation for sure. The 2011 LSU and Bama teams would been in it too if they hadn’t split the 2 meetings, with each winning one
