re: Rare but Scary Medical Conditions

Harlequin ichthyosis (HI) is a rare, life-threatening genetic disorder that affects an infant's skin. It's the most severe form of ichthyosis, an autosomal recessive disorder, and occurs in 1 in 300,000 births. Babies with HI are born prematurely with thick, diamond-shaped skin plates separated by deep cracks. The tightness of the skin can cause the eyelids and lips to turn inside out, and make it difficult to breathe and eat.

Pictures and videos of this condition in newborns are disturbing.
Many talking heads and posters here keep talking about the Iron Bowl but omit that Florida State was trailing a 5-6 Florida team in Gainesville that same weekend. Records aren't as important in rivalry games.

I think Florida State should have been given a chance in the playoffs. The system was flawed before this season. Who can reasonably argue that Washington and Michigan are better than Alabama? There are too many qualities that could be evaluated to determine the 4 best teams, which is why an automated process might work, but people will never be satisfied.
Texas was the better team when the game was played. Texas had the revenge factor and a more experienced quarterback among other advantages. Alabama was starting a quarterback with limited experience in high stakes games and who has struggled to become an excellent passer.

We're getting ahead of ourselves; conference championship game weekend may make the decision process easy.

I read the first 3 pages and didn't notice anyone mention Flower Mound. That suburb gives you access to a recreational lake, nice parks, excellent hiking/mountain biking trails, plenty of real-estate below luxury prices, and a location between Dallas & Fort Worth & several great suburbs.

I expect Flower Mound to appreciate in value, and there are still new neighborhoods being built.

I'm impressed with the storms that are meeting significant severe criteria for both hail and wind.

From my observations, it seems super rare for storms with very large hail to also have hurricane force wind gusts.
Is this the 2023 O-T Lounge downvote record?

Rush hour sucks in a few places.

I agree with this. I lived in Huntsville for most of the 2010s for university and work. I have visited 3 times since moving to Dallas.

Give me Bandera County Texas and the Fort Worth area over North Alabama anyday.

Braum’s Ice Cream & Dairy, Quik Trip, Love’s Travel Stop, OnCue, Hobby Lobby, Mazzio’s Pizza are also Oklahoma companies.

I’ll give props to Texas for HEB and Whataburger though.

Don't forget Buc-ee's. I suspect that the two businesses in bold play a significant role in Buc-ee's not expanding into Oklahoma.

This has been the best pair of semi final games by far. Hats off to Georgia for battling their asses off.

Thanks for the mature, concise statements. I agree with you. Both games were entertaining and much higher scoring and closer than many expected.

Source? Google Lens returned no matches.
What do you think happened for both teams during or shortly after halftime?

Hell look at Mel Tuckers contract too.

Right, his resume is much worse, and Michigan State is more disadvantaged than Texas A & M. I have seen unverified posts online that mostly one booster or donor is funding the contract, but the prospect of firing Mel if he flops would be terrible optics.

Why does it smell like cooked hog in here?
Fair points. Thanks for the detailed response. I suspect that the game wasn't an anomaly and that UGA is just way better than them now too since your team has had time to improve.
I agree that Georgia and Ohio State should stay ahead of Tennessee.

I also think UGA fans shouldn't boast about beating Oregon when Oregon was debuting a new staff including a head coach that has never been a head coach at a major Power 5 school.

I agree with you and some of the other statements in this thread. The 2020 season was a blessing in the middle of 5 rough seasons (2018 - 2022). On defense, Tennessee's Jalin Hyatt didn't receive proper adjustments to defend him. On offense, Tennessee linebacker Jeremy Banks (#33) did a great job tackling and applying pressure.

Bama's OL wasn't able to assert its will, and it's been rare that Alabama's defense has played to the familiar, elite standard that lasted through the 2017 season.

As for the 52 points, I don't get hung on that. Both teams missed manageable opportunities to extend drives or score points, so Tennessee could have scored more. Also, Clemson scored 44 in 3 quarters (including a pick six) against the 2018 team. 2018 Clemson or 2019 LSU could have both scored more than they did to win.

I have enjoyed the run and side with people that are not optimistic that true responsibility and accountability for the shakiness since 2019 and particularly since last season will be realized by changing some philosophies and staffing.
Golding and whoever the secondary staff are should be fired!

Between the defensive holding, DPI, and letting one receiver have his way for 5 touchdowns, this is overdue.
It's crazy seeing one receiver go off like that uncontested!
